Re: TV coverage getting worse
It certainly wasnt the best but it wasnt the worst either it was boat racing on TV, it is hard to re-capture the excitement with only one or two cameras, but those also cost money. as a second year group they are doing well.

Pete
Constructive criticism (aka: Lessons learned) can only help a newbie production company. Sponsor and fan appreciation can help all involved.
Another suggestion is to consider the interviews to be incorporated into a picture in picture format. That way, more race time viewing is available.
I'll not ask at this time for a copy cat format of the 2002-2003 UIM F1 boat racing sponsor logos overlayed on the screen or the same for the start finish line without any interruption to viewing the racing action.
Also, since the Helos used in Offshore go faster than the racers (Unlike Unlimited Hydro Races) the helos can position better to get additional angles showing more than one boat at a time.
I beleive most of the above can be accomplished in the post race review during insertion of station commercials..
Take care
Hope to see you in Deerfield..

Re: TV coverage getting worse
As a few of you have already said, the 2003-04 season on Speed Channel was the best boat racing on tv ever. I have to say, I will probably always be a huge fan of 4,5,6,7 turn courses, because it called for much wilder action. Is there anyone that we can talk to about the coverage instead of compalining to each other about it? I don't know who to say anything to but if I did I would. Also, did anyone read the article in Powerboat/Poker Runs of America magazine (I can't remember) regarding the OSS TN race? I didn't race there nor did I see it as a spectator, but the article was horrible. There was nothing mentioned about the race, just about the sponsors and the activities before the race. Pathetic.
