Tool for checking outboard height???

I was at St.Clair yesterday and I saw some guys with a special tool for measuring the height of there outboards from the bottom of the boat. Can someone please tell me where I can buy one?

A aluminum T square with one of the end chopped off, from Home Depot or Lowes.
