I think, initially for the class to grow, it should start out as a run what you brung class. set up like a Pclass 80mph max, prop calcs radar etc.
If enough guys show up and are ready to comit, it can be refined from there.
This way, anything can show 2.5, 300, Johnson, Evinrude, Susuki etc.
I wouldn't go crazy with the rules until you guys establish a ghood # of guys that will show up for the season and not just one race.
Keep it simple.

Good thinking ScottB and thanks for your input. I would just hate for Brandon to go blow a hunk of $$$s on a 300X if it is not necessary. I would work on getting the boat balanced properly and maybe even dual set up you can split the duties.

I agree Scottb, it should be kept simple to get guys to show up. DPT, I work at Ocean Outboard & Ocean Marine so i have the option of choosing from a few different motors to build for the boat. It is also my pleasure boat which i use about twice a week to beat around the bay. If i was going to race it and do nothing else i would throw a 2.5 efi 280 all done up on the boat. But because its also my pleasure boat im going to choose the 300promax (not an X) over the 280 due to the much greater reliability and mid range torque. The guys around here are running everything from 2.5 200's to yamaha 300's to Mercury's 300X so to keep the class a run what you brung thing i think would be best

Just from an outside perception, I wouldn't start worrying about the rules. The only rule should be a single outboard. I think it would be a damn fun class to watch.
