WOW !!!! thats what it says allright.
FROM SBI SITE:
"We have received many inquiries pertaining to the eligibility requirements and clarification for participating in the 2005 Key West World Championships.
The current rule (pg 60, rule #2 or #3) reads “must have started two (2) SBIP/APBA or UIM National/Divisional races in the same class during the current year”. It has been ruled the definition of “current year” is the term of the membership, which is from November 1, 2004 to October 31, 2005.
Since the current year would encompass the 2004 World Championship race, several teams have asked if that event would be counted as two events. Since the World Championship is actually a dual event, this question has merit. The team must have raced Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday of the 2004 World Championship to constitute two events.
Therefore, the decision has been made that if you participated in the Key West World Championships in 2004, you ARE qualified to participate in the same class for the 2005 Key West World Championships. If you did not race in the 2004 Key West World Championships your must still follow the rule book, page 60 rule #2 or #3."

Wouldn't this ruling have allowed the OSS teams to race in Key West? The ruling doesn't state that teams had to be registered with APBA in 2004.
Further clarification is needed.....

I have said that all along.......
The Key West World Championship were the 1st races of the season for the following calendar year!
I am glad finally somebody actually pushed the issue.
That also should mean your points collected over those races should count towards your current season...Right???

If you look at P-Class qualifications for Worlds eligibility, the rules state “registered hulls must start in a minimum of two (2) SBIP/APBA National/Divisional Events in any Division prior to the World Championship Event”
Chattanooga is effectively holding three “events” this weekend, awarding places in The Chattanooga Mile, Chattanooga Closed Course Speed Runs, and Chattanooga Offshore Grand Prix; looks like participating in and any two will qualify you for the Worlds.
Not a 2005 SBI/APBA member? Register the boat as Divisional ($300), join SBI/APBA under the one event membership ($100)....total coat $500.
Entry Fee...........................................$500
Membership.......................................$ 500
Total Cost to qualify for the Worlds.....$1000
Hitch up the rig and head to Choo Choo town…..all you gotta do is cross the start line. The action starts tomorrow!

Ron,
The ruling is any boat that ran KW in 2004 has qualified for 2005 !!!
All boats that are qualified to race the Worlds in 2005 must still register for the new season with SBI/APBA. So to answer your question ALL BOATS SBI / APBA / and OSS teams that raced 2004 KW Worlds have qualified their 2 race min. as stated in the rule book.
