So just to clarify, any boat that races in KW this year, can run in KW next year without doing any races in the normal season?

This isn't to knock either organization.

But here we are 5 weeks away from the two big events of the season.

After the race site of St Pete have put all their hard work into producing an event, I would find it very unfortunate for anyone to change their mind at this point to go and run KW.

If that were to happen, and I don't think it will, what credibility does that leave the racers and the organization when they try to re-book a race site.

Bringing attention to this information now in hopes to lure racers from another organization's race amazes me.

This is not new information.

It's always been clear that the Worlds in KW has always been the first race of the following calendar season.
Why do you think you pay equipment, membership fees etc ect when you go to Key West?
As it has been stated here in the past, the organization does this so that they have their money up front to carry them through the winter months.

Race where you intended to race.

Good luck and have safe racing where ever you choose to go!

That's the way I interpret it also.

Ron,

Thats is correct for this year !!
If you want more information you should call the SBI office and speak to JC I'm sure he would love to talk to you ....
Then you can post all the correct info. for all the racers, I'm sure that would be a big help for everyone.

Next year might be different? Why?

For the record, I applaud the creative thinking to allow everyone in KW this year, I just wish it was done six months ago so that the OSS teams could attended and a true world championship could have taken place again.

There is no change of heart, the rule stands as it was written in the rule book. It is just a clarification for some teams that asked the question about the rule and made a good point.

Ron,
If you had read the section of the rule book about the Worlds you would have known a year ago not 6 months ago. Key West will be and always has been the only true World Championship !!!

Frank, I think it is a little disingenuous to say "if the rule was read a year ago". The OSS racers have been told all they have to do is run 2 SBI/APBA races this season-there was never any mention until this week that races last year in KW would be counted. I heard this same thing from both sides all season long. Now all of a sudden this pops up after a "National Championship" race drew 21 boats in Florida-where a majority of SBI/APBA racers are. I hope OSS does the right thing and goes to St Pete, like they said they would, and I hope Bubba gets his 70 boats to KW, but let's not try and make the OSS racers out to be some kind of dummies that can't read or interpret a rule book regarding the biggest race of the year

See ya in KW.

Frank, just read your first post in that old thread. Are you going to now tell all of us that you knew of this new "No Race in 05 needed" and we were the only ones - and all OSS teams - that misunderstood? This two race qualifing for the Worlds rule has been inexistance for as long as I can remember.

Looks like other people didn't read the rules as they are now being interpeted either. Sorry for my ignorance. I'll pay closer attention next time.

Ted,

It has nothing to do with the Nationals and please post the correct info. 31 boats in Deerfield ...check the results all the boats are posted.

OSS teams should race St. Pete if that is where they want to race, you all seem nervous about St. Pete boat count and loosing boats. They should be more concerned about getting a CG permit first. The boats from OSS that have committed to KW will still be there, and the boats that plan on racing SP I'm sure will still race there. There is a number on boats that have qualified to race SBI or OSS that will be their choice. From the teams that I have spoke to they don't feel a 20-25 boat count in St. Pete for a World Championship is where they want to be.But again it is for ever team to make their own choice and what works best for them.
