re: ins./cars.........I've been on the cell phone all day, mostly on hold and waiting. It seems all the insurance companies have their own regulations.......I still don't know about mine, luckily I had a brainstorm and rented a car in Ft. Meyers on our way back to the keys. 100's of people are waiting for cars to either rent or buy.
As far as home-owners, someone will be out within 7-10 days.
We're instructed to take pictures of everything NOW.
As far as hotels, my husband was there today and most of his customers who have floors 2 and up.....are o.k.
IF THEIR LAUNDRY etc. is also not on the ground level, they will come back faster. The ground level hotels in the worst flooded areas will be the last to recup.
The main problem is the phones........getting info. from them.
I have computer phone line (don't know why) but no home phone. So I would suggest, if you have a fax # for your hotel, try that to get info. Maybe that one is working.
I also read in the paper that the Hilton Marina is GONE.
