Just a reminder that the motors as parts are readily available to Racers. Mercury has always considered these to be low production "hand made" units, and they still produce them for export and racing purposes. We just checked stock for a new drop on for Team Cat Attack. Mercury High Performance has 5 in stock. EPA regulations require that they not be sold as complete motors because of the shiftable gearcase (could and would end up on Bass Boats etc.). High Perf dealers like Diamond Marine will be able to supply all the motors you need for the foreseeable future. SQ

Shane , that is the problem, you can't buy a complete 15" motor you must buy the powerhead, mid section, and gearcase seperatley. You can expect to pay 16 -18 k per motor doing it this way. A new drop on powerhead is around $11 K and change last time I checked. They may have gone up a bit.

Shane/Ryan
As you know it's not really a problem. We all think of them in terms of their parts anyway. Ryan needs a gearcase, Steve needs a mid-section, Cat Attack needs a complete drop on etc. It's been very workable. Diamond Marine (954 525 2600)has been able to supply us with any and all the Mercury parts we need. SQ

I was thinking more in terms of a guy building a new boat. I've had a few inquiries about this. A guy that wants to build a new boat usually wants to buy complete new motors in one piece , especially if they are financing the boat.........that is where it is a problem. I agree if you have an existing running boat , that it is easier to buy pieces. When we built our AMT we had to buy motors pieced together with separate parts and it was a little tough.

Ryan, Thats kind of what I was talking about as far as being able to buy a package, I just figured like anything else when bought in parts it will cost you twice as much.

It's a a bit more , a few thousand, not twice. Theil's boat is a VERY nice piece and damn near new. I've heard great numbers out of it too.

Lee has done a great job building the class again, Steve you guys have a great package and will be tough to beat this year. Looks like there will be some great racing in SS for "2007" in SBI/APBA.
SS looks like it has stood the test of time and is growing more and more.
