I wasn't even suggesting you folks from the east, south and midwest drag your gear all the way out here (although I'm 100% for that idea and will buy the first round if you do!) but the lack of west coast interest in offshore racing as a whole just astounds me. We've got near two thousand miles of coast line out here (spanning from Canada to Mexico) and how many sactioned, points paying offshore races go down each year? Maybe two (if the Rum Run and the race they have up north count)?

What's that saying....Carpe diem.....seize the day!
Conference calls are nice and convenient,
but I would like to see the 4 of them locked in a room to hammer out a deal (eye to eye) on the World Championships in Key West.

Cater the food because no one should leave until the deal is done!

Ken, I'll send you a PM with my phone numbers so we can talk a bit.

I'll be away from 9am tommorow until 6pm on Friday so a call tommorow night doesn't work for me. I'd prefer to everyone to meet face to face anyhow. Please call me.

we all must work together to make sure all parties are treated evenly and fair no matter where we go. it has not been the rule before, and i believe it should be the RULE PERIOD.
catlite works because we all want an even playing field.

It means to me, come one come all you are all welcome. No fees, cash purse, 7+ boats in a class, TV, deck to deck races, a win actually means you beat someone, and most importantly great people and tons of fun. One "World Champion" and One "National Champion".

That to me is "United We Race".

Actually...I am stirring the pot....I would like to see this move this from a slogan to action.

The first step is to define overall the concept and establish the goal(s).

The second step is creating communications between the parties.

"United We Race" appears to be a takeoff of one of the Greek author Aesop's quotations..."United we stand...divided we fall"

Here is another one of Aesop's quotes that I think is appropriate:

"Every truth has two sides; it is as well to look at both, before we commit ourselves to either."

u·nit·ed (yū-nī'tĭd) adj.
1. - Combined into a single entity.
2. - Concerned with, produced by, or resulting from mutual action.
3. - Being in harmony; agreed.

Unfortunately, I'm a little more cynical about the "United We Race" saying. I liken it to "No New Taxes".................

"United We Race" has become the politically correct banner to fly in offshore, even though most of us know that at least 50% of those flying it have no intention of cooperating with competing sanctioning bodies/owners groups/whatever you want to call them. Yes, the other 50% are sincere and are to be commended. It's not hard to figure out who falls on which side.

Is the root of not being able to race together money? If so I can't see how United We Race will work since some of the groups are run by volunteers or owners and some are a for profit business.

Re reading my post it sounds negative and I hate to sound negative, beause I would really like it to be United, I just wonder how it could happen. I would love to see what some one else suggested, lots of races all of the country where everyone was welcome and then some really big regional races and big grand finale at the end of the season in Key West. But how can that happen if each group charges their racers completely differnt fees.
