Phantom ... I understand the history and I understand the BS but I also think that you need to come to the races, as a fan or a racer (I had a pretty strong opinion before I ever got in a boat -love me or ignore me -doesnt matter - my opinions the same) to see the United We Race working.

I just think its sad that we are seeing the growth race after race, we are going to other race sites, as racers and fans, other racers in other series are coming to OPA race sites and still some say "United We Race" is just a saying, like its not really happening. Sorry I disagree with that. Im there. I see it. Id like to think 2008 is only gonna be better ... Guess Im seein the glass half full

I said it before and I'll say it again. APBA/SBI and OSS must bury the hatchet. I only want to go to one World Championship Race and until then I won't go to any. This hurts everyone from sponsors to racers to race fans etc. I know that as a race fan with no money invested in the sport that I can't afford to go to all the races, get time off work and either can the racers and their teams afford to go to all the races. It's just common sense. The Reputation of Offshore Powerboat Racing has had it's ups and downs over the decades with more downs then ups but you all have to bite the bullet and try to race in harmony. And for the most part it sound like things are changing for the better. Yes you are always going to have problems but it's like being married you have to work at it and not just take off if things don't always go your way. As a Race fan I'm asking you all to try and get along and race together whenever you can and can afford to etc. I don't want to blame any one person or association but some one is responsible for either being power hungry or just plain bull headed. The hell with it. Why should I or anyone else even waste our time trying to figure it out. Quite wining , snipping and get rid of those EGO'S and if United We Race bothers you then something is wrong. there are better things in live to worry about other then UNITED WE RACE. I love the sound, the speed of Offshore Powerboat Racing and the beauty of these boats and there is no other spectacle in motor-sports racing then watching the start of an Offshore Powerboat Race with the roaster tails shooting in the air , the sound of thunder and watching helicopters following the boats as they race around the race course. That is why I go and watch all you Warriors doing battle on the water. It's going to be 2008 in about three months and I am hoping that 2008 will be the year that everyone to speak of gets together and we have only one Offshore Powerboat World Championship Race whether it is in Key West this year and Destin the following year, that's OK because I will see the best of the best putting on a show like no other. The sport can only grow if only some of you can grow up.

As I said in another thread - "United We Race" is like "No More Taxes" to many............not all, but many. A very convenient phrase to use when trying to get something.

Personally, I think the phrase should be "No More BS".

WTF? Are you serious? What a narrowminded post if I ever read one.... Keep on living under that rock.

It is all based on opinions, MY Opinion is not all that say "UNITED WE RACE" mean united we race. but perhaps United we race my way without saying it. whether I get it or not doesnt matter in the big scheme of things. I have went to races from all organizations this year, and have friends in all groups!!

To many boat counts make the race, IMO the competitors make the race, If before the green flag drops, I can say this boat will win, and the fact be true what's the point of racing??

When there is a fleet of 10 boats in a class, and all have a legitmate chance of winning, everyone wins, the racers honing thier skills in heated competition, the fans which see a great show, and the promoter where fans will go year in and year out to watch.

What is the best show?? SCL

Hey Pete ... you just described OPA

Oh wait ... I forgot my ....

Seriously tho ... if some of you that dont believe it would just come to a race, you could see why those of us that do go are excited about it. You dont have to be a racer (current or past) to see everyone getting along in the pits, teams helping each other, better boat counts .....

Pete ... you goin to the Nationals?

There will be no way we all can run togther like Louie said...
There are some great teams and guys that race in SBI/APBA...lets not forget some of them are our best friends...
It dose not mean becasue they race for a certain Org that they are not united....They choose to race there for many reasons....one being the sites are close to were they live...
Saying someone is not UNITED becasue they will not travel over 1000 miles to race is just as dum as some of the BS we have seen in the last 3 years...

The one thing both Orgs have are they have a lot of races in a 200 - 300 mile radius....which makes it affordable and time effected for there team and ables them to race over the weekends and be back at work first thing on Monday morning...

Both OPA and SBI/APBA have established race sites that want Offshore racing....

The Pro Series have shown us this year they will support all Orgs. and there teams have the funds to do it....they have helped everyone in there boat count....so lets not forget logistics plays a hudge role in United We Race....if OSS joins into the Pro Series for 2008 and there schedule continues to support all Orgs. there will be some big races for 2008...

Remeber not to long ago....when SBI and APBA were seperate...they still came together in Sarasota for a great event...and also Key West in 2004..so its not out of the question that this would not happend again....but lets not forget all the BS that just took place in the last 3 years when people were trying to destroy other people's business's....now that this agenda has failed you can't always expect people to just forget about that overnight....its going to take a little time and I think Smitty and JC have the best talking relationship out there right now....

It still shows that there is a lot of egos still out there...
If a city is happy with a 13 - 18 boat count and they are invited to come back and the teams are happy racing there...who is to say your killing the sport...thats bad for the sport? but the BS that has accured in the lst 3 years was good for the sport...
Some of the great teams have race by themselves at time in the past....David Scott and Gieco did...you didn't hear anyone telling them they were hurting the sport.....
Its funny how it just kills some people with agenda's when others are having fun and there teams are to, but you have others who think they are helping the sport by trashing them....
