So I was fortunate enough to participate in my first offshore race this past weekend in San Diego and it was the best weekend I have ever had. I have met alot of really cool people and everybody in the POPRA organization was very cool and welcoming. First I would like to thank Brian Devlin who own's the AMF / Raylar Lavey we were racing because without him this wouldn't have even been possible. I also got to spend some time with Ray and Larry from Raylar and they are two first class people in every sense. Tom and Jennifer Brunner who ran the hospitality area were just awesome people. I also want to thank all my family who showed up (especially my girlfriend) as well as Brians family. So thanks again to everybody mentioned above as well as everybody else that I met from the organization. See you at the next race.

Ray,
I had a pic of your boat but it was blurred. It was hard to get the pics from where I was.
Did anyone get any pics of the afternoon race?
Is there going to be a Las Vegas race?

Hello Pat:
There is not a Las Vegas race scheduled this year. They could not get enough east coast guys to show for the race.
Times are pretty hard in the country in general right now and I think some teams are cutting back this year.
There is a great Scope run this coming weekend to Catalina. We'll be there with Brians boat and it should be a great time. I 've heard quite a few OSO'ers will be there!
I wan't to see a race next year in San Diego with all the guys from POPRA, OSS,OPA and SBI there with a flying Kilo in Misson Bay, a real offshore race from LaJolla down to the OB pier and back a few times and a manufacturers show and in the water display boats and demo rides at Mission Bay at the Barefoot Bar Marina!! Now that would be an event everybody could stop arguing who's the best and just show up and run and have fun!!
Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Scot, We did not want to be a mooch so we supported the event at the burgerstand. My kids did like the nacho's. Good to see you and your parents and everyone else from Propra.
Ray,
Since times are tough the focus should be regional and the worlds. That means bigger west coast races and a rivalry for the Worlds like it used to be.
Long Beach, Pittsburg, San Diego, Las Vegas, Huntington, Dana Point.....It just need a little push and support unless you guys like poker runs that much.

Pat,
The Poker Run format seems to be the only thing that is getting the boats out on the West Coast. Take a look at this year. The Long Beach venue provided a Poker Run course where it officially was a race. More boats showed up than any other race this year. San Diego is a great venue. What happened? We'll you actually have to do more than 4 turns and might have to turn next to another boat. Seems that's a problem for some and understandably so.
If the potential racers are telling us something, then medium length offshore races with fewer turns seems to be what they are saying. Then again, thats a Poker Run.
