If Key West is the season opener for 2014 in SBI, then don't the rules have to be in place prior to the start of the season?? Just curious since we built an SBI motor to run SV this season and now it may not be legal?? That doesn't make much sense... Sorry, I mean seance

Your motor will be legal Kev , we are talking about possible looking at other options also. Looking to try and make it as cost affective as possible . The Merc 525 and the Vortec will still be good to go, as thing progress you will get an email from SBI as a registered member, or call me anytime
Great seeing you in KW you guys did a hell of a job getting ready for Sundays race I know it was a lot of work.

Have spoken to most of the owners matter of fact had a good conversation with Mark today. It would be in addition to, so no one has to change anything if they dont want to. Not really there yet still have research to do, Richie myself and other members of the tech commity are still putting it together and still in the very early stages. We are talking about possible building one and doing some dyno numbers. and then make the changes and corrections from there. The goal is about 600hp and lower RPMs. Our many goal is cost and reliablity.....Options are always good it would be in addition to the Vortec and Merc.

IMO, a 600 hp Carb motor is fairly cheap to build and that is a good thing. It would make an already, relatively affordable class, even more attractive. If you limit the comp and you limit the cc's and the rpm, I'm sure, it should not be too hard to still to get 600ish. However, even though the people I know would love to be able to run a few seasons without a teardown and most likely will. Who is to say that some hot shot won't build a motor that makes 650-660hp but will only last a few races all inside the class rules. The same applies to the bigger classes. Just my thoughts.

The goal is to make a afforfable, and reliable motor that will run at a little lower RPM and can be service and repair by numerous different build for the fraction of the coat that Merc would charge. We have to look to the future with the Merc 525 going away soon. The plan is also to use Race Pak in the class so that will also help monitor the class, and from the teams I have spoke to they are all on board with it. None of what we are doing is going to happen over night but with a little time it should all come together, if the package isnt what it has to be we will look at other options.
