To me Port Huron is a much more challenging part of the St. Clair River than the area around St. Clair. You have higher sea walls on both sides which allows more waves to come back into the course, the river is wider there to run a lot more lines than you can around the River Classic course, and the current is stronger due to it being a lot closer to the mouth of Lake Huron. This means you are flying down the Canadian side of the course and getting some big air coming up the American side.
Sad to say, some people stay away from Port Huron because of money issues. Unless you can save some money by keeping your boat at River Bend Marina via Ed Smith, sometimes it simply cost too much trailering your boat back and forth across multiple states to bring it back two weeks later. Hell, Superboat only had 13 boats show this past weekend. Broadco, Grinch Racing, and DoubleEdge all made the St. Clair and the Michigan City event. So 3 of the boats of the 13 were from St. Clair at a double points race. It all comes back to money and sponserships!

Make sure you get with Dee and Stu and verify as with the start/finish being on the Canadian side turn 1 is actually just past it, they start however going up the American side. I scored a few years back on what we all thought was turn 1(American side north end) and it ended up being turn 3 in reality. Mention to Dee about "Trent, turn 1 confusion" and she will know exactly what you mean and make sure you are where you want to be
