I had ended up building them new extended hatches that were close to 10 feet long. This covered the area behind the bolsters.

They ended up weighing far less then the existing shorter ones...

Folks: Be carefull with those scoops. They might cost you more in aerodynamic drag than what they (hopefully) gain in induced air pressure. At top speed, aerodynamic drag can become very significant.

I'd add NACA ducts on the hatches and run a PVC tube to blow air directly on the ingition boxes. Also Smitty said you need to lower the voltage by using a resistor.

I'd start by calling the company that makes the boxes and asking them what to do.

You looked good out there. At least it's a cheap fix.

NACA is another alternative. If you want them in fiberglass, let me know. I believe I have a set of molds for those. Single or double ducts. Otherwise you'll get them in plastic and rivet them in.
