VinMan, Are you not getting enough positive airflow in there now?
Tim, the only air intake is two 12"x3" grilles on the side of the deck about a foot from the transom and the exhaust grilles are right behind them on the transom, so theres is no air in the front of the engine compartment, that kills the availble combustion air also.

I'm not positive that was the problem, but both motors had the same symptoms, lost the same power, at the same time. Ran great for 3 laps , started losin rpms and power gradually. so i just pulled off the course.

Might be a fuel prob, but i doubt it. havent had a chance to look at it yet, but the air thing seems most likely.

Someone pls educate me on those NACA ducts.
Bert, NACA ducts ar used alot on race cars, they use them for brake cooling alot and for air into the passenger compartment, the shape of them speeds up the airflow using a venturi effect , and the fact that they are recessed cuts down the drag.
Also you can mount them for the best airflow and run a hose off the duct to where you want the airflow

I made these single ducts and flush mounted them on each side to increase air flow into the canopy.

Marty, your PM was replied to...;)

Try a little closer:

I have 4 and no scoop, they work great. Peconic, check out Pantera , www.panteraboats.com Pantera puts NACA ducts on their boats and you can see the application on some boats

Vin & Marty,
After looking at your hatches, I don't think the placement of the Naca Ducts would work on the hatches themselves. The air coming off your fairing will go right over your helmets and clearly miss the hatches. If you do mount them there, keep them far towards the back. You may consider other areas to put them. Before the fairing on the deck or slip the Single ones on the sides of the deck if you have the height. Just a thought.
This was one of the reasons for having such height on the Haulin' Glass boat. To be high enough to grab the air moving towards the back of the boat after passing the cockpit.
:eureka:

Great! Then they will probably already have them in stock.
Thanks again for the offer Marty! It's appreciated. I guess if Verizon went out on strike I would be taking in as much work as possible...:D
I did that a few years back, and they settled so damn quick I was backed up with 3 weeks of side work in just 2 days......
This time I am pacing myself.......;) :D :D :D
