While the Northeast of the nation suffered a massive power outage ....

... there was no shortage of power in Point Pleasant, NJ, where scores of racers followed the call of the Jersey Boyz. They congregated en masse to register for tomorrow's races.

Peterson laid on a welcome party.

At the last minute - even later than the last minute - Glenn Murray of Typhoon appeared and registered.

Typhoon's appearence was made possible by a collection taken up by fellow Jersey Boyz. In straight good old cash, of course ...

... which was immediately disbursed.

So much money was collected that it bought two Randys - always good to have a back-up.

The pre-race party at Jenkinson ...

... with Bruce and the Coor's Girls are a Point Pleasant tradition.

After the traditionally great fireworks ...

... and the traditional taking of pictures of female chests, clothed ...

... the racers had some more drinks and went to bed to be fresh for tomorrow's races.

12:15 at Martels, here is my dad at the WEBCAM calling me to rub it in that he is at the race and I got stuck in FL

So, Board Gods, if I display the work of a talented plastic surgeon again, one part covered by the man who funded the endeavor, the other part a perfect specimen, picture taken under massive police guard in total public at Jenkinson's at the boardwalk, must this be my first post in the X-rated section? I'd call it PG17 at max ....

Back to our Point Pleasant report ...

White Trash barely made it to the races. Due to the blackout, all gas stations were closed. Kirk drove on fumes across Outer Bridge Crossing.


New Jersey had the power and the gas.

At 2am, White Trash arrived.

Friday, Oh-Dark-Hundred: Physicals and Drivers Meeting.

The meeting is conducted under the watchful eyes of NJ's Finest. Hey, you never know.

Wet Pits: Later in the race, this Bad Boy Cat was to exploit a momentary weakness of Team White Trash.

The boats have so much power that some started without a crew. P3-13, Dave's Offshore, took off on it's own. It had to be apprehended by law enforcement and returned to its rightful owner.

Augie and Kevin. Kevin indicates: "Our on-board salami is that big."

White Trash is ready as ever.

Now we switch to our official Point Pleasant Society Reporter, the unflappable Ron Polli, who always manages to get the best seats in the house:

"My ride for the day was Mike DeFransa's 36 Apache while Pete Mazzo brought out a friend's 37 Outerlimits to use as Pace Boat one. "

"We got to the inlet with the race boats on our stern and once the inlet was closed to all traffic, the race fleet roared out the inlet to the delight of thousand of loyal fans that line the inlet year after year."

"Pace boat one would start the P1 and P3 class boats (there were no P2 boats) in the first start, while we would take the seven P4 boats for their start while Pete circled around and picked up the P5 fleet. Without any waves to hinder the drivers' sight the starts came off very smoothly and with a nice line up."

"In the first start the father son team of Bob and Jay Muller came loaded for bear with their 40' Motion SuperCat. Running against them in P1 was Stylin who came in a respectable second and the other father son team of Ernie and Ernie Jr. Tretola in Relentless took third. The huge Motion Cat was in a class by itself and literally blasted around the super smooth course to take the overall win."

"Wazzup jumped to the lead in P3 with Diamond Dave hot on their heals the entire race.
The big yellow cig never lost an inch to them nor could they gain an inch. They just ate Wazzup's vapor the whole afternoon. Bad Boy Goose took a third over Executioner and Dry Martini."

"The P4 class is always a highly contested race and today was the same old song with a different ending. Typhoon jumped to an early lead and was able to hold it until they stuffed the boat on the front straight and stalled the engine. In a moment Augie and Bert in The Delicate Sound of Thunder motored by and dogs looked like they were done. They got it fired again and the chase was on. Like a dog running after a car, they ran hard to the end but the big dog of the day was The Delicate Sound of Thunder. Typhoon held on for a second place finish. Third place was won by a brand new boat, and I mean brand new. It's a 32' Bad Boy Cat. The first out of the mold and it hit the water for the first time ever only 24 hours before the race. This boat has a unique deck design and is powered by twin 377 Merc Scorpion engines. Nice work Tony."

And nice work, Mercury. That "Guardian" angel (a.k.a. Darth Vader) hit White Trash twice this time, forcing a total shutdown and restart each time. That was the Bad Boy's chance and they passed us.

Augie OTOH won fair and square. Some racers considered filing a protest due to a non-regulation Salami on board of Augie's Flying Condo. Augie had jettisoned the evidence though, and the racers reconsidered.

Team Typhoon got a good grip on the blond Coors girl as a thankyou for their efforts.
