I am sorry you were not able to attend the meeting, this would have been a little clearer for you. Last year you may not have realized it but we were using the average lap speeds to control the classes. Most of our races were rough as you well know. None of the boats were able to break out of the average lap speeds. When we got to Cambridge with the flat water race, we found that some of the boats had broke out. This year will use the GPS to control the top speeds, and use the average speed as a backup should the GPS fail on a given boat. In the flat water races we will have to adjust on the average lap speed. The average will not DQ you the GPS will. Ed

John...it was mentioned that .10 (tenths) would not be used...in other words a full mph over would be needed to be penalized....

While I am in here I might as well explain to Brucie the cost for the GPS. The annual fee of 150.00 covers the GPS and box. The reason why we made it annual in stead of one time, is if we average 40 boats per race, which I am sure we will, we will need 3 or 4 extra people per race just to handle the installation and retreval of the units, not to mention batteries, and replacements. Running the GPS system will be a challenge for us because we run all the boats at the same time. The retreval process will be a pain in the A@@. I realize most of our help comes from volunteers, but we will have employees handling this scoring, as well as the new computerized scoring system. The racers were the ones who decided they wanted the GPS so Pony Up Boyz Ed

ok Scotty.....we dont need any comments from the peanut gallery.

Ed...thanks for clarifying the costs. I didnt realize that you intended to hire officials to handle the GPS units.

However, you have not addresed the possibility of having local suppliers help out with the outlay for the units. Or have you?

I have tried that, it is really tough to get any cooperation as strange as that may seem. There are cheaper models out there, but I found one that has a few options we need.
