SS930,
While everyone will try to talk you into a different class....its your try disition...if your looking to racing where you can make money and a compeditive class and is not to expensive you have the right idea....In 3 years of racing in F1 their is money to be made and their is the best racing for a small investment....but also look at what F1

Gino..Baby..Sweetheart

I dont think he is looking into becoming a die hard racer overnight. In his post, he said he will be pleasure boating most of the time with an occasional race here and there. If he does most of his boating in the NY area, and wants to race, why not race P-class locally instead of driving all over G-ds creation? F-1 is a great competitive class. I would love to race it myself. Hell, maybe I will.

See ya

I love the 32' Sutphen... very nice boat. The problem I have with a 32' is $, size/weight, and power required to do 80 mph. I'm looking to spend south of $80,000 for a new or slightly used boat. To get the sutphen 32 to do 80mph, you're talking twins or a very healthy single. As I said before, I'd prefer to avoid twins, and a big azz single = $$$ and poor reliablitiy. I'd like to stick with a single 500 or 525, I like the idea of not having to worry about engine problems... can't do that with most SC engines.

SS930,
While everyone will try to talk you into a different class....its your disision...if your looking to racing where you can make money and a compeditive class and is not to expensive you have the right idea....In 3 years of racing in F1 their is money to be made and their is the best racing for a small investment....but also look at what F1's are out thier for sale used also....if you look back on the last 4 years of F1 racing you will see different manufactures boats run better and worse in different seas....if your looking for a good rough water boat to race....the Activator is on of the best and the fastest....it has been up front since it made the entry into F1 in 2001....I'm not trying to sell you something just telling you from being behind the wheel and if I was smart 3 years ago before I bought my F1 it would have been alot eiser.....as far as engine pack. in APBA for 2004 we will be running last years rules....but in a activator weather you HP is 450 to 560 the boat will be running up in the front....the Warlocks have also shown they are a good rough water boat along with the Kryptinite and Superboat.....I'm not here trying to sell you a boat just giving you input....my F1 is for sale and I'm not even going to mention it....but dollar for dollar right now the 2002 Activator that is Dave's is for sale it its cheap and can win....I say that based on how new it is compared to others that are for sale and it has proven it will be up front.....today if I was going to buy a F1 race boat and my objection was a fast boat that I know can win and is worth evey penny thats the boat....with an average sponsor and a good year racing you could get what you pay for it racing one year.....
I hope to see you racing in F1 soon and you better be behind me
Gino

Racing is just an option I'd like to leave open for the future... I just want to make sure the boat I buy will fit in some class and at least be competitive.

SS....for the $$...a new Y2K is hard to beat!...great boats.....

Good Luck!

MANITIE 01-07-2004 12:32 PM

Sorry Bruce..

SS930,
Even as a plessure boat and running in N.Y. That boat would be a good one..B.J. can contest to that and he sold his to the guys next....just things to think about.....

BRUCE SEROFF 01-07-2004 12:33 PM

if you are pleasure boating most of the time, how would you want the boat set up? in other words do you want use of a cabin and its amenities? If you do, some of these boats may not fit your requirements. Gino is right. If you were gonna race F-1 and wanted to be up front, I would say Activator or Kryptonite hands down.
I dont see the Y-2K winning in F-1 anytime soon. But they would be in the top 4 most of the time.

"Racing is an option for the future".
Unfortunately, if and when you decide to race, the boat you buy may not be set up to compete with the current technology and / or power options in future years.

That why I recommend P-class.
