Now those are some great pics. I'm not done. Taking a year off and will be building a boat with a canopy. I'll be working with Pacific Offshore to help build the West Coast fleet and offer a hand in producing some of our races. I'm pretty excited about the new rules especially in SCL. I'm real excited that they will be set for 3 to 5 years.

The Warlock is running great and would be a great buy for someone getting into the new Factory 1. You know how expensive and time consuming it is setting up a new boat. If I knew 4 years ago what I know today, I would be looking for a ready to race boat. With props, safety equipment, straps, spares and all the other incidentals, a good used boat is not a bad way to go.

Thats is going to be a big part of the class, some of the F1 boats that are out there and dialed in will just need to lose a few pounds and drop in 496HO's. Some of the new boats being built will now be alot more affordable in the high $70's ready to race.

Thumbs up Re: 2005 F1/f2 496 Ho

So what about drive and standoff boxes?I'm building a boat now with an ITS and Imco extreme for poker runs,it would be great to just pull out the big motor and drop a 496 in the stringers and go racing.

The box will be fine but you would have to run a standard Bravo One, XZ, or XR...Frank

Frank are you sure about the box? If its the same as APBA's rules we were not a loud to use a box unless the boat didnt have step's or notched transom. There was only one boat that ran the box (Freedom, a Corsa). I wouldn't let any new boats in with a box or ITS if it were up to me. You are just making the boats more expensive and its another thing people will say has an advantage. But its not up to me!
I also think your price on a new boat is way low. I think your closer to $90-$110k for a serious race ready F1 boat.

Would someone from APBA and SBI that has the authority please respond to this thread say this is real!!!!!

Randy,
A box will be legal in SBI and the reason is to try and get the speeds where they need to be.The 496HO is a great motor but as you know if you just drop it in one of the older F1 boats the speed might not be where the need to be. The box will help to get the speed to the mid 70's and make it a fun class. The class will almost mirror SVL one weight, one motor, one drive with a box.some boats don't run well with boxes and it is an option you don't have to run them.
Also Randy believe me you can buy a new F1 boat for high 70's if your interested you can write me a check and you'll be ready to race next year.
