Re: Key West SS outboards
First let me say I am a MERCURY GUY through and through. I am sure the organizations and racers would entertain the idea of another manufacture if one would step up to the plat but as of yet none have. I mean honestly none of those guys has anything close to a 2.5 and none have a performance gearcase either. They would have to GIVE AWAY motor to get teams to try them. See you all in Miami.

Re: Key West SS outboards
Seems like Stock class is mostly made up of AMTs, Doug Wrights, Spectres, and Deep V Cats. Any word on whether or not there are going to be any other manufacturers out there as well. There are a few Skaters out there for sale but are any coming out to race this year??? I heard some had inquired about Skater building new boats for the class but I guess no one wanted to spend the money. I would think they would want to have some boats out there in this class with its sudden growth spurt this year.

Re: Key West SS outboards
I talked to Peter in Key West. He is very interested seeing his new 30 on the race course in the SS class. I was told (not by Peter) that one will be showing up very soon. The more the merrier. SQ

Re: Key West SS outboards
The new 30' should perform very well and I was thinking that a wide body 32' would do very well also.

Re: Key West SS outboards
Hey Guys,
We are making great progress!! Spectre Powerboats- Jay Pilini is personally guiding the rigging of the boat. As anyone who has seen a New Spectre's rigging it's perfect. I'll post pictures as she nears completion. Holy smokes this Race stuff is TIME consuming!!!!!!!!!! It's definitely gonna come down to the wire here. Maximus AirEntrapment......interesting first post on OSO.....who are you? Velocity Tom...Good to see you on the board!!! |
Re: Key West SS outboards
maximus, this is my first post on this thread,I have been a member for several years on oso. No malice intended on the rigging question. Your boat is a fine race boat, one of if not the best in SS class right now, It deserves the best rigging. And as VELOCITYTOM has said to me many times, Almost and close enough is not the answer hence his fine velocity! Good luck with making miami im sure your team will do well. Just don't sacrifice quality to make the race, It's to fine a boat and it's not worth the time savings. Good luck this season I'll be pullin for you and the whole class, their all good people...Again good luck...

Re: Key West SS outboards
VELOCITYTOM, You have one of the best looking boats around, attention to detail is outstanding. Did you rigg your boat? If so kudo's... Great boat...You still owe me a ride!!!

Re: Key West SS outboards
None suggested . Your counter seems to be screwy. Tom's velocity is incredible. His Carbon finishes are great. If people on the board new what he did fo a living they would be all over him. He is VERY detail oriented...and a cool guy.
AE It's hard we had SOOO much work to do. ...You know the deal! At some point you just get out there and race. Jay is using the Mark Lavin safty book and will not stray on Saftey issues. Maximus |
