Boat Count

Re: Boat Count
It sound like a pretty week rule to make teams race 2-SBI races to qualify. Practically NO ONE cares about UIM record and to make that the sticking point is craze. If we have to follow UIM rules then we should show up in KW with the old A motors in SVL. If rules are rules. As far as I have been told they dont even have the same classes as SBI/APBA and does the Fabio boat race 2 races a year with John or the guy from Argentina or are those special rules? What if there were other teams from around the world that wanted to race in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP would you say no to them? What rules does the UIM have for P class qualifications?
All Im saying as an OSS member is it sounds like either you dont want OSS teams to compete for a true WORLD title or its another way to strong arm teams to race with SBI and collect our money.
Im sorry if that sounds harsh but its the way many teams feel in OSS. I may be the only one to say it but its whats felt by the racers
And while Im on it look at the cost for teams to have to do 2 more races.Annual Registration for boat and crew $2,000, $3000 reg. for 2 races, travel, rooms an other $4000 for 2 races. Boat maint $4000 if nothing breaks! and time off work. Then another annual reg. $2000 at race in KW, now i'm a little SVL team and I'm way over $15,000 to qualify the 2 race requirement to have the privilege to race in the WORLDS. Add another $100,000 to a Super Cat team and Multiply that by 40 teams and the cost to be eligible to race at the worlds with you for the OSS fleet is in the Millions. Get the big picture NOW!!!! You should be asking us to please come and support KW and SBI so we can ALL compete for a TRUE World Title that was earned on the course.
Can I have a hell yeh!!!!! or Amen!!!!!

AMEN, AMEN................I hate to agree with MD he is much easier to argue with, but I think he put well.....let the racers race together once a year, wherever it needs to be, funny how uim did not matter last year....other than a separate award for uim members, that don't have a uim class.

Randy, "All Im saying as an OSS member is it sounds like either you dont want OSS teams to compete for a true WORLD title or its another way to strong arm teams to race with SBI and collect our money."
OSS, "An OSS membership is about Commitment with a Capital C, and about Responsibility with a Capital R. OSS is committed to its racers, and OSS racers are committed to all OSS races. OSS racers pledge their appearance at all OSS designated races (with one throw out allowed.) "
So, its OK for OSS to require mandatory appearances at all OSS races irrespective of whether the team may want to go to another race, but not OK for Sbi to require you run 2 races?? Come on now, you guys just want to have your cake and eat it too. You want independence for the season but want to be a part of the Worlds at the end of the year? If it were about comittment with a capital C and responsibility with a capital R then under your rules if OSS was the host of the worlds Sbi racers would not be able to race...... Hypocrisy?? It might be.......

OSS racers are committed to racing all 8 races for the 05 season. To add 2 more to our schedule is not passable for many teams with limited time. OSS has a business model that says race with us first and if you want you can race where ever you want after that. This way they can count on boat counts to sell the big show to promoters and sponsors. Its all about knowing what you have to sell to sponsors and not letting them down. I happen to agree with it.
My guess: Not including the worlds
OSS has Aprox 40 teams which 30 teams do all 6 races on schedule.
SBI/APBA has Aprox 60 teams which 15 teams do all 11 races on schedule.
More races are not always good if you cant count on everyone to show at all the races.

Looking at the schedules, there are 11 SBI/APBA races not including the Worlds and there are 6 OSS races not including the worlds.
I think it would be that hard to fit in a few more.
If I had the money some of you guys do tied up in racing, I would definately want to race more than 6 races.
