My friend said he went to buy some American money from the Bank today and he paid .07 on the dollar. That never stops us Canadians from going across the border to spend our money in the U.S..

We have 50+ people attend this event and 99.9% are from the states which to do a Canadian stop would require all these people to do the same as you. It was talked about 2yrs ago, but now with all the restrictions it's pretty much to difficult to do.
Last year we where hassled at Jack's by Border Patrol wanting to know if we had been to Canada. After that it was decided to keep it on the US side of the river.

Last year half of the boats at the Motor City Can-Am Fun Run were from Canada. We had to get I-68 Permits or Nexus Passes which are good for 5 years. When I pulled into Jacks the Sheriffs boat was there and hailed us over but all was cool. Never had any problems when we returned back to Canada. We did stay on the U.S. side for the Fun Run but would like to make a stop in Canada.

If you couldn't tell... I was joking... Relax, you sure take this thing personal. Of course you're not going to complain about the American dollar prices and of course they're not going to keep you from coming here... Gas, even with the exchange rate, was about 1/2 as much here as it was there...

We have 2-3 Canadian boats in our run every year.

If it was all Michigan people I might see the point, but only about 6 are from MI the rest are from other states which is something that they'd never use. They shoulda been smart and used a passport something most of us have already. I'm not trying to deter anyone from joining in our fun, but this run due to the people coming is easier to put together if kept on the US side. Also rules are different in Canada. Here we are allowed to have flare guns in Canada it's considered a felony something I wasn't aware of til last year when being boarded by the Border Patrol.

If I was any more relaxed, I'd be a sleep.

You're allowed to have open intox in American, and not allowed to have open intox in Canada, another important point. In Canada you can't have any open beers or drinks on your boat, whether it is under power or not, and whether it is being consumed by the driver or not...
You are partially correct about the open booze in Canada. No drinking alcoholic beverages by anyone when the boat is moving. No open booze when anchored, unless you are in a designated anchorage or marina for the night. Your boat must have living quarters, such as stove, fridge, sleeping quarters and head. If I have a drink, it is usually at a Bar and Grill on the water.
