Seems like the crowds on shore are always big. We've gone the last two years by boat and won't go again. Too much of a pain and you really can't see what the planes are doing. Then you have every amateur boater/fisherman in the state there idling around and they cannot anchor there boat in the river to save their life. So they come drifting toward you or into you and you spend the whole day panicked about the people around you. That and the 50 coast guard boats that are floating around "checking" on you.

Red Bull Races June 5-6 on the Detroit River. Went to the first race it was OK for the first time but every plane does the same thing. It has been drawing huge spectator crowds. The Ontario Government has given the City of Windsor 10 million dollars to hold the Red Bull Races for 2010 - 2011, 5 mil for each year, that is just unbelievable. I know that if there was ever a big Offshore Powerboat Race held on the Detroit River, there would be some of the biggest crowds around any event around here and for that kind of money they could of had 1 million dollars a year for the next ten years and it would be a lot more interesting then the Red Bull Air Races and a real boom for both cities downtown business.

A major Offshore event, which ran down the Detroit River, would have many more times the exposure and viewership, than any of the current offshore events in the area...Boaters and non-boaters alike could enjoy the noise and excitement...
A no brainer....
