Thanks for all the great info. We have a place in Chippewa Bay and travel to Brockville at least 5 times a year by boat. Check in is always a breeze. I call from the phone booth at Block Island, give them my boat reg. # and they seem to have all my info on file. I always come over with the same people, wife and 2 kids. We spend 2-3 hours then leave. My only issue is calling in when returning to The States. Is the closest call in location at Singer Castle? Last year I did not check back in. Does Canada report to the US that US citizens have checked in?
I have also noticed the Boarder Patrol stepping things up. Last year we were followed in our car down rt. 12 all the way to our place. They never pulled us over until we arrive back at our place.

Tom---another river local! ALWAYS check back in computer systems are becoming more and more integrated (my old company did the Nexus system which integrates the US and Canadian systems) For you I would say your best bet to check back in is either Singer Castle or Morristown. I am not sure if Schermerhorn's has a check in video phone but pretty sure Chippewa boat ramp doesnt.
What I have heard is no problem with traveling through Canadian waters without checking in. The motor has to be running. If you shut off the motor and drift, anchor, fish, or dock you have to check in.

Sorry didn't mean to imply that there was. As far as I know there isn't one at Singer....last I heard was that there was only talk of maybe putting one in there because of the gap in phones from Alex Bay to Morristown. List of video phones from Customs/BorderPatrol Site
