I remember back in the mid to late 90's my buddy kept a 39 Stinger there... When we used to leave shooters at night, we would get past the mirage and under the last bridge and get on plane... It was something to remember....

I have to agree with Dave... Go west! the islands and Sandusky bay is the place to be!

Mentor lagoons is great thats where im at lot of performance boats there. No barr other then the club house but allot of dock parties. If you go a little further east about 2 miles you have Grand river Rack and storage next to Pickle Bills (great food and bar on the water)but a 20 min. ride down the river. the other side of the river right on the lake is HTP rack in Fairport with a bar and food allot of action and a fun place to drink and sit on the lake and in a safe harbor same as Grand river with a smaller boat I would go to Grand river or HTP the harbor gives you more days to boat . All three have three beaches close by and if you go west 5 miles to Chagrin river with two bars on the water and 10 miles east is Geneva state park fun place to go party. All are about 20 min from down town Cleveland and about 45 min from northern Summit county.

Thanks for the post, this really helps. Lots of info here so i want to make I have this correct to ensure my "googling" is most effective:

Rack Storage Suggestions: HTP, Mentor Lagoons & Grand River Rack

Places to Hang Out: Pickle Bills, Trader Jacks... What are the others?

How big of a pain is it to get to the islands from these storage suggestions? I have been boating my whole life and will acquire a chart plotter as soon as the season starts (didn't need one here in the south).

Thanks again for all the help.

Mike

From Mentor area im guessing its around 70-80 miles. Thats a straight shot and a little ways offshore. If going for a day you get some nice days on the lake that a 24'(if thats what you have) will be fine to go and come back in the same day. Problem is getting 2 nice days if you stay over night. I learned my lesson with my 24' and trailer up now from the Cleveland area.

sunset grill is at HTP lot of boaters and not boaters go there right on the lake tiki bar and restaurant its a great time and they have gas there too, in the Chagrin also is the deck its a dive but allot of fun and good food plus gas.
Myself with a 24 ft. I would trail to the islands its not often you get nice enough water to get there and back.
also check out Geneva on the Lake half an hour boat trip to the east safe docking at the state park and a taxi will tale you back and forth to the strip look it up must be twenty bars and you can dock over night there.
maybe we will run into each other.
good luck Keith

quit fartin around and just come to the bay.....if the lakes to nasty you can always play in the bay! 7 miles to kelleys and 23 to PIB! Barge partys less then 2 miles away! And when it comes to rack storage Venetian is the nicest around. Not to mention there customer service is great. Boats get a wash/wipe down at every pull out and the marina is just super clean and well maintained.
I paid something like 1500$ for my 24 there for inside rack. Money we'll spent! Not to mention the locals are pretty cool....
