Haven't done this trip since I was a little kid, small enough I don't remember enough of it. Is there a place I can launch and leave my truck and trailer for a few days? Was planning on leaving from the south DNR launch in Burt lake but didn't know if over night parking was allowed.

Any advice for the trip? Plan on staying in Cheboygan the first night and Mackinaw City for a couple after that.

There is a better launch in Indian River. One of the Marinas will let you park overnight, I will have to dig to find the name. The owners at the Fleetwood motel will take care of you. If you want to start in Crooked Lake, I can give you a name of where to park, pm me. When are you going?

Watch Crooked River, it get's shallow. I tried making it from Burt to Crooked lake and had to turn around even with the drive trimmed up. You could start from Mackinaw City, they have a great facility and you can park overnight as well. There are also great ramps on the Cheboygan river at the Forks and the Lincoln St bridge. I have made the trip several times, watch the weather out on Lake Huron, it can blow up pretty good. I'm heading up Thursday and will be up all next week. I'm planning a trip to DeTour Village and tour the islands in the bay.

We're heading out Thursday too. From what I've read I don't think I can made it through crooked rkver so wanted to start in Burt lake. This weekend is supposed to be nice. Going to stay at the county marina Thursday night. I'll shoot you a PM with my number if you're looking for someone to boat with. Haven't been up that way on a boat before.

I left my truck and trailer at the DNR south launch on Burt Lake for 3 days with no issue, not sure if the rules have changed or not. Indian river to Mullett lake, through the locks and over to Mackinaw Island for a few nights, had a great time!

Doing this trip this weekend. Going from Indian River Marina to Mackinaw Island and back on Saturday. This will be my first time over to Mackinaw by boat. I will be in a 32 Fountain and there will be a 30 Hallett and 42 Fountain in my group, so you see us, say hi. Also there is a boat race on Saturday and Sunday, so they are closing the rivers for couple hours.

Plan on the River being closed till after 1:00pm, Saturday and Sunday look to be good weather, if my plans change I will look for you. I will be in the 280 Velocity with a Mitcher T paint job you can't miss.

Some pics. Ran from Burt Lake to Les Cheneaux Islands. Stopped for a night in Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, and Cedarville. I mapped my run out and ended up over 175 miles traveled not including runs into the lake to anchor and swim. Awesome trip other than I found a crack in my prop when I got home and I ended up running out of gas when I could see the boat launch...
