Customryder-Powdercoating looks really good. What was involved in removing that trim indicator bezel? Did you have to undo any of the cables? Both Strip and I have to change the trim tab cables. I heard the cables are a stinker to deal with up by the dsah. Any tips, hints or recommendations would be much appreciated. Lou

its fairly easy 4 nuts & its off. going back is tricky.. you must line everything up while tiring to keep the tabs pointers in position & from falling out. no need to disconnect the cables. i think its worth the trouble, i like it better than the black bezel.

Customryder-Thanks for the comments and quick response. Your Sea Strainers look like my Marine Machine strainers. If they are, you can get them in various annodized colors. Only problem with mine is that the hex nut is very shallow. The new ones have a taller hex. Maybe I'll get the colored ones and solve that problem. Lou

Yeah, the new ones don't bust your knuckles by using that tall hex. I use a 6 point with about 28" of extension with a long flex head ratchet. The strainers on my Slingshot are probably at the same height as yours, but forward 12". My 800SC's with trannys move everything forward. I snug up the lids after putting a little vaseline on the O-ring. Since I didn't buy my boat new, I don't know what they recommend. The thick Plexiglass cover is a tight fit. I pry it up with a large, broad tip screwdriver. To install it, I make sure the lid is level and carefully put my bare foot on it to seat it. Then you just spin the cover on rather then have to ratchet it down. The annodized covers are neat but a little pricey.I look thru the lid every time I go out. Every once in awhile, I'll see the water temp climb a little and then go back down. That usually means my low water pickups passed some seaweed into the strainers. Every once in awhile, while idling, I'll see the water temp climb a little. Backing up briskly usually dislodges any seaweed blocking the low water pickups. Lou
