From a high performance dealer in S. FL: Markel is the only company writing policies in FL right now. With no competition it seems that the prices can only go higher.
You need to buy a mobile home in the mid west, title the boat in that state and insure it there in order to get a quote for less than 20K anymore. I was looking at an F4 and insurance was quoted at 12-14K with 525's and I know that same boat insured in the midwest can be done for 10% of that quote.
Insurance is the deal breaker for me right now. I will keep my 32 and the 3K a year insurance bill.

Hey Ricky,
As an agent that writes HP Insurance, I can tell you that the one guy is right.... Markel will be your only source. Your looking at about a 4.5% rate on the hull value and that isn't including liability. HOWEVER, your biggest problem is going to be overcoming two things:
1. Markel usually only insures boats that go up to 100MPH.
2. You must have owned a CAT prior. You could own a performance VHull for the past 10 years that does 125MPH, however, that doesn't matter, you have to have prior CAT HULL ownership.
Hope this helps you out!
