We have had Allstate on everything for years,,,,, never had an issue with claims or support,,,,,our Agent is great also. I have never had a boat claim though,,,only 1 on the house ( roof hail damage ) 1 Corvette ( I tangled with a semi and lost ) and 1 snowmobile (wife tangled with a tree and lost ). in 20 years ,,,,,all were overpaid in my opinion if I'm honest !!!

Where do you boat? Most of the captive companies (allstate, st farm, farmers, nationwide, etc) dont have great boat programs. I am an independent agent and write several companies including Erie (a great company when it comes to claims). A very important item to look for in the policy is for coverage on debris removal. If your boat sinks some companies will total the boat and give you the cash value of the hull, etc but will not pay the 2-3K that is costs to haul it out of the water.

They are ok on auto stuff, but home insurance forget it.

Came back from a trade show and my house was broken into. I was basically cleaned out.

They covered me- but squeezed me to death.

I had to come up with boxes and or receipts or I didn't have it- pictures of the stolen Item weren't good enough. (all records were dumped open and scattered about the back yard dumping out drawers.)

Example -I was given a Bang and Olufsen 9000 with speakers was like10K it was accompany gift so no receipt.

Snap on tool box full acquired over a decade - 0- value.

Then they started the fine print capping on categories i.e. they didnt cover electronics over X amount.

They had me for 10 years - but no more.

At least the thieving pricks that hit my house were to lazy to steal my mcintosh amps.

After some more local asking around I will skip Allstate. Someone I knew (and owed me money on a rebuild) boat was stolen a few years ago. Police report (that I saw) showed boat was recovered intact, went to Allstate impound yard and boat was picked up from there with stringers cut, enging out, and s couple holes in the side of the hull. Saw it after the fact, forgot it was an Allstate deal. When he went for a deposition all states attorney showed him the police report minus the page saying it was found intact. When he provided that page they decided to pay out.
