I have a 2000 Baja 28' center console insured with State Farm for $900/yr. Might give them a call. I used to have all of my insurance with Allstate. Hit something in the river, tore off the drive, broke transom assy and bellhousing. They paid the claim, but cancelled my coverage. This was my first claim ever.

I switched from Progressive due to high rates. Went through Woozencraft for different insurance. Had a great experience dealing with Woozencraft. Very helpful and prompt. Found better coverage at a much lower rate than Progressive.

Your rate will vary a LOT depending on your location which you did not list. 1500 to 2600 is a crazy increase though.
I would never use Geico or Progressive to insure anything.

I was with Progressive for my Baja, but when I got my Cig they would not write coverage because the boat "can go faster than 70 mph." I said, my Baja could do that and they had no answer. I had to switch to American Modern and the premiums are pretty high for the Cig. I'll shop around later this year and see if anyone is more competitive.
