Doug-
When you changed to the 16.25 x 29 Herings (5 blades?), did you notice any difference in transom lift? How about getting on plane and speed?
Thanks

#6 dry sumps
Here's the recap if you happened to miss it in the General Discussion forum:

Earlier this year, I contracted with Craig to upgrade my #6 wets to dry sumps and also to have Hering install their skegs. All that went fairly well and I finally got the drives in a few months. (Endeavour Marina removed and later installed the drives). Within an hour's running time, the port drive 'broke" something; we knew because the port engine immediately hit the rev limiter.

I called Craig and he asked for us to ship the drive ASAP. He called after receiving, dismantling, and inspecting the drive. What happened? One of his subcontractor-machinists had incorrectly machined a part for the oil pump and the part broke, which caused a loss of oil pressure to the drive and destroyed the upper gear set and more. Craig paid for an upper gear set, bearings, shaft, seals, all the labor AND he never quibbled or complained!

The drive should be back on this weekend.

Jon-
I still owe you photos of the billet transom plates. Maybe I'll remember to take the camera with me when we're working on the boat!

John, It's good to hear of a boat shop standing behind the work that they turn out. They will probably get my drives this winter. In answer to your prop question, the boat gets on plane like a ski boat. The props turned out to be mercury racing props which I learned when I sent them to Bblades. I will be running them this weekend at the Big Cat Run. No accidents this year!!!! I will have pictures after the run. Doug

Doug-
I'll give you all of Craig's info. I have a few other questions about the props: I'll email you, OK?
Thanks

Due,

Thanks for the pic.........looked great.

Does the other drive need to be checked out for the tolerance issue?

Jon-
I emailed Craig and asked him a similar question. He said there shouldn't be a problem. We had it out Saturday for about an hour or so with a couple of 5,200 runs: no problems.
