No, no i cannot! Jeff came and got the boat a couple mins ago. Looks like I cracked off the power steering pump. It was basically hanging there-- Jeff saw it the second he opened up the engine. He'll get it everything straightened out. Looks like a need a lesson on how to work these NA engines. My engine hatch was completely black.......Jeff said I gave it to much gas and i had a mini fireball in there. Ahhhh, you live and ya learn

Motor sounds strong though.

Went for my boat course with Brad from Tres Martin Performance Boat School. Boat performed AWESOME and that class was GREAT. I'd suggest ANYONE that runs a performance boat to take this course! Anyways, Thought I'd give everyone an update. With the same prop as my high speed run, the motor only turned it 5500rpm at 84mph on one pass and 81mph on the second. Definetly feels like i need a stock 28 or even a 26. That last 800rpm is crucial

Damn so you lost 400rpm since October. Now that I think about it where you driving when you hit 89 @ 5900rpm? Do you think the difference could be because of driver and weather conditions?

That class does sound like fun. What would you say you learned the most by taking the class?

Oh...shirts should be done soon! A couple things I ordered for my kid backed things up.

The course focused a lot on safety, boat dynamics (chines, strakes, steps, pads), and understanding how your boat interacts with different set ups/water conditions. It clears up misconceptions about driving, throttling, and all of the aforementioned. I don't want to give it away..... but the course made me feel WAY more comfortable in my boat. The course focus's a lot on safety, but most of it is how to handle you're boat CORRECTLY by keeping it IN the water. After mastering the skill sets I had the boat flying STRAIGHT consistently and all my turns felt 10000% more stable. When I mean stable, I can turn it on a dime...... It took me an hour and a half to master 2 skill sets and I considered myself an ok to pretty good driver. Honestly..... anyone who's anyone should take the course.

The loss of 400rpms..... not sure why. We had 75 gallons in the tank opposed to 45 gallons. Brad weighed roughly the same as lightspeed(who was on the boat for the 89mph run) and I was the driver for the 89mph. I had it trimmed between 6 and 7 and played around going up and down to make sure it was the top. My guess is the weather was more humid than it was in October. Either way, I THINK(and i could be wrong, LOL) that this is a 93mph boat. There's no reason it shouldn't break 88mph on any single day loaded.

Ok, a little update on trim numbers.

I measured parallel last week on mine and it is ALMOST at 4 on the indicator. However when cruising I usually run at 2, with the drive tucked in. This keeps the bow down a bit better as well as using the power of the engine to push us a bit faster. I pick up 2-3mph by going from 4 to 2 at 3700rpm.

Now, we made a high speed pass last weekend with a labbed 30p Bravo as I just wasnt getting the rpms out of the 32p labbed. with just over half a tank of fuel, two people, a heavy cooler in the cabin, and some other crap on board we ran 96.5mph at 6000rpm. With the prop at neutral, the boat still felt like it was pushing water and was running 92mph at 6000rpm. As I trimmed it up the boat loosened out considerably at 5 on the gauge and the speed went up to 94-95mph at 6000rpm. I trimmed up to 6 and the speed climbed up to 96.5-97mph at 6000rpm. This whole time the boat tracked perfectly straight and stable in a slight chop into the wind.

What I find interesting about this is that usually when you trim up you gain rpm and sometimes speed. In this case I trimmed up and gained speed without picking up any rpm, all I did was reduce slip by getting more hull out of the water. I feel confident that if I were to trim up a touch more, maybe to 7 I would have picked up slightly more speed, maybe 98mph. With an empty tank and no crap on board I am confident that this is a 100mph boat again.

So in other words running at neutral trim might make for a better ride, it doesnt run as fast for me as trimming up and lifting the boat out of the water.

Im in the same boat as you phil. I had to run a Hydromotive as a spare for a week. If I trimmed to 7, I would get 80mph. If I trimmed to 7.5, I would get 84mph. The boat really has to loosen up to pick up speed. Driving a light weight single step (which is placed perfectly from what I'm told) is way different than your typical 29 footer.
