In a twin engine application yes. We rigged a 32 CObra raceboat with staggard 500hp smallblocks back in the day...ran awesome and the balance was amazing. Same thing with a 28 pantera...i dont like them with twin BBCs...too ass heavy....one with twin SBCs would rock

Not so sure on the small block idea. I'd imagine its lighter than a big block. In these boats, specifically, you don't want to lighten up the back end. Light stepped small boats like these are very sensitive. If the krypto is padded, which some are, your only adding to the problem providing easier and significantly more stern lift. If there was room, which I dont believe there is, a staggered small block would be pretty cool. You might just have to eliminate the tabs!

An LS7 would be great. JMKID's Skater has twin 700+hp LS7's. I think that one of them would run great in a 27'. They are about 400lbs lighter and still make great torque.
I cant imagine how much he spent on those things though.:drink: |

What are your thoughts on this ? Mid to high 600's horsepower wise. Its basically a marinized NASCAR engine !
Or are you talking twins? Uncle Dave |

Has anyone built a big cube small block for marine use? Just kind of curious, back when I was into cars there were some guys building 427-454 cube small blocks with pretty serious tq and hp #'s. I know they were pretty pricey to build, but in a small boat would the weight savings be worth the cost?
