small block in a 27 ?!?!

What are your thoughts on this ? Mid to high 600's horsepower wise. Its basically a marinized NASCAR engine !

Not as easy as it sounds and equal or more expensive than a big block per horsepower.

Its a question of manners.

If you are talking about an outdrive boat you need a decent idle quality or you'll beat up the clutch and gears just getting out of the marina.

The 600 HP through 3 inch open pipes at 6500 RPM is a different proposition that 600HP through wet marine exhaust.

just as important as the 600 HP is what the torque curve looks like. If it cant be stabilized on a dyno below 3000 RPM its not going to come on plane real easy either.

High 600's - yeah not without a blower or be prepared to drop monumental coin on a small block to do this that works in an outdrive boat.

This can be done- but it will be expensive to do it well and by the time you are done a mild big block would have been cheaper.

This is a path Ive personally taken so I know.

Uncle Dave you got a gourgeos looking boat and that engine and compartment looks like you can eat off of it.

Bern...staggered small blocks... ;)

That being said...as light as our boats are..and easy as they get on plane..i think propped well it would work. But it might be doing it the hard way

Has anyone built a big cube small block for marine use? Just kind of curious, back when I was into cars there were some guys building 427-454 cube small blocks with pretty serious tq and hp #'s. I know they were pretty pricey to build, but in a small boat would the weight savings be worth the cost?
