This is also known as "fully hydraulic". UD |

because you will still have a cable in between you and the water vs oil. UD |
I seen imco kits it sounds like they tap into the stock powersteering and keep the cables.
Here is a link to a add on kit http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=2664 |

I think its just the rear stuff i thought it tapped into the stock stuff.
What do you think about this kit http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=9115 |

I will be doing everything myself

Definitely. This all seems like pretty basic stuff
I just can't let anyone else work on my stuff it makes me feel uncomfortable. |

Would they be best to talk to or would regal?

What do you think about hitting the 100mph mark?

100hp plate on the 406. Ive only got 6% slip. Pretty efficient hull. UD |
Was it scary in that small boat going that fast.
I don't 100% understand the prop slip thing. Basically like a 6% traction loss yes? can you get props with no slip? What prop were you running on that boat? |
Also where do you find is the best place to buy boat parts from?

Your propellers thrust isnt 100% 1-1 the hull and the prop and many factors contribute to "slippage" a transaction loss is a good way to describe it. You will always have some slip- more blades and bigger diameters help this, but some slip is beneficial to acceleration and drive lifespan. I was running a hydromotive 4 blade 27 6300RPM. http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm UD |

On my own I use CP, Teague, Rex, and Imco, Dana- depends on the part. Dave |
I gunna open up the bottom end on my stock 350 mag just to check the bearings out and everything. I got a set of roller tipped rockers around here somewhere I was thinking of throwing on for the hell of it. I was also thinking maybe take the heads apart and do alittle porting mainly just remove casting defects. What do you think?

Without an aftermarket exhaust- any "porting" you do wont do a thing. Exhaust is the foundation upon which all other engine work stands on. If you are going to bother at all then I would put it back together w a new set of aluminum heads. Dont even bother with the junk heads that came with your stocker. Leave the bottom end alone for now, unless you are blowing oil past the rings- have you done a leakdown test? Heads, intake and exhaust can get you another 100HP or 5 MPH. UD |
I was just thinking remove teh flashing in the casting. I read before that it alone can be worth up to 30hp on a stock engine.
I'm not gunn put no real money into the stock engine. No leakdown test yet. For the bottom end I was just going to check out the condition of the bearings mainly |

For the bottom end I was just going to check out the condition of the bearings mainly Your mercury exhaust is so restrictive I dont think you will get anywhere. Look at it this way. At about 1MPH per 20HP lets say you could get 30HP is 1.5 MPH worth all that work? At this stage ID just leave it in until you are ready to replace it. UD |
I think my boat would get alittle more then 1mph per 20hp maybe once you get to teh 80mph mark it might be more.
with teh stock 350 mag your about 270hp and that will do 60mph with teh 330hp 454 your around 65mph and the 365hp 454 mag you around 70mph. To me those aren't that big of jumps compared to mph gained |

The larger bravo drive is less hydrodynamically efficient and "costs" MPH. UD |
The alpha will never be going back on the boat.
Today I was taking some of the accessories off the engine basicallly every but teh long block and it use to be a salt water boat and there is a decent amount of corrosion in the intake water passage so i think im going to get alittle more into it |
Do you know if the seapump brackets off a 454 will work on a 350

Do you know when switching to the bravo from an alpha if I need to switch the shift linkage also?
|
Man picking a colour to go with for this thing is driving me crazy. I originally wanted orange then I could't find the right colour. Then it was blue but I read about the dark colours so that was a no no. Now im leaning back towards orange and I want to paint on blue and silver graphics. I was thinkng silver for a main colour but I dont; think its for me. Also the idea of a real light teal maybe

The thing that sucks for me is I do autobody and paint so I can do anything I want which makes it even harder to figure out. Do you think with a lighter teal or an orange teh boat would get to hot to go on the deckor anything.
|
i think I am going to do a mild upgrade to my engine now. I got a bunch of parts to start with. Really I need to find decent heads cheap. Just try for a good solid engine 350-400hp

Teal will date the look of your boat. I have it on my rig and like it, but certain colors scream 60's 70's 80's and 90's..... UD |

(if you dont do this it will hold back everything you do do) Heads/ intake/carb/cams next. Bottom end then. This will get you a nice bump. Be on the lookout for a good used exhaust system. UD |
The engine is coming apart no matter what now. I got the bottom end already just no top. I'm gunna see if I can source up some of the gm vortec heads cheap. One of my exhaust manifolds is cracked so an exhaust is needed too. I will definitely do an exhaust.

UD If you are lucky maybe you can find a good set of aftermarket exhaust right now. There are a few great choices right now. Everyone has their pet brand, Most are pretty good now. some are great Only a few are garbage. even the worst way outperform the stock stuff. Dave |
What do you think would be best a dual or single plane intake?
|
I really like the colours on this boat. specially the second pic down on the left.
