Dave so is your 1991 Lavey an Al Lavey boat ? As Im not sure that Jeff and Chris owned Lavey way back then, correct? It looks fast as hell. Your not kidding as you said you bit the bullet with the drive and the ITS with the install that had to be close to 20 k. if all of that was brand new.

Ok so I have to ask, the dude in the passengers seat from the first vid - I guess his name is Eric - the one who almost ate the bird. 90 MPH and he had no glasses on ? That was a feat in itself. Funny the dude puts his sun glasses on after the run is done.

I am somewhat surprised, no one wearing life jackets - especially at those speeds and just recently re rigged. I'm guessing a test drive ? Glad no one forgot to tighten a bolt. Just saying, NOT my business nor telling anyone what to do, just being in the business its a habit especially test driving. Man your boat was - is fast.

Sounds pretty close to that....,and yes all spanking new parts. There are very few 21 ft boats with this level of hardware anywhere.

It was actually Jeff Camires Boat.
This boat was originally documented in Poweboats magazine.

Eric is the dude in the passenger seat- lets just say I think he gets the eye protection thing now.
As for Jr ripping around like that - setup had been proven -but the mill was freshened and gone through with some new stuff it was more of a question to see how much taller a prop it could pull after slowly wearing down in 10 years. It actually runs faster with a 3 blade but Im still experimenting.

I wear a mustang inflatable myself when Im footing it.

The boat is blisteringly fast and is built to sustain high speed running while running ice cold. You can cruise at 60not even into the secondaries sipping fuel or you can spin it to 6K till you drain it dry and do it over again this setup has ridiculous control over the oil and water temps.

Ive run many time from th springs to Laughlin for lunch and gambling with the babes and back (fueling at AVI both ways)

Everyone that gets to drive this thing in its element laughs and giggles.

It blasts through the midrange like you get shot out of the cannon while being super easy to steer and control while actually turning
Its a low 92-3 boat with my imco and herring on it. 90 with the speed master and a B4 28 spinning.

Stop by on the weekend in Parker you can drive it yourself and see. Its an awesome parker strip boat on a nice day.

Small block, did you already tell me who built the motors ? if not who built them with 500 hp. That was not accomplished by an average builder. So your 20.8 likes the 7 inches of set back and did they raise your X or a 2 inch shorty drive. It looks like a standard drive length. A tad hard to tell in the pic what length the drive is being trimmed up but again it looks standard length to me.

Its actually about 500 / 520ft/lb. Dick Gazan built the last 2 engines. Dick died in 2012 off to the big speedway in the sky. Youve seen lots of car craft articles with Dick doing engine shootouts with guys like Joe Sherman and Lingenfelter. The old man had some damm solid combos, but guys like Madera seem to be able to get a bit more.
Dicks mills last about a decade before a freshening.

Alexi freshed up all the old parts put new ignition in, pulled the recirculating pump of and did a bit of touch up work.

It likes the setback.

The standard Speemaster lower is almost 2 in lower than my old Bravo unit and slower- hence the speed pick up with my imco lower off the 2750 which is -2.

U mean Sport Master correct. not speed master. The Sport masters gear case has a modified wedge shape skeg that was pattered off the dry sump Six drives skeg. The Sport master skeg has more surface area than the bravo plus its 2 inches longer in length compared to the Bravo.

correct sir!

One thing I call it without a doubt is - slower. Im gonna start working on three blades this summer to see what I can wring out of it.

This package is magical - any regular guy can deal with a carbed small block chevy that runs on pump gas.
Boat is relatively quiet, and comfortable on water that fits what it was intended for. Outruns 95% of anything you are likely to come across and the guys that do outrun you likely spent 10X what this cost to buy own and run. (aside form the ITS which I consider a safety feature) -

A 600HP big block would have been more fun but far less responsible as I can now resell the rig with confidence to someone who knows what they are looking at - or pull it apart and resuse its guts for another project down the line and put a stock as a rock mill in it.
