Hey Pete, hope all is well with you, it has been a while. I took the motors out of the Magnum in the fall of '18 I think to check them over after 325hrs of use and also replace the engine compartment bulkhead which had some rot. The cylinders had some wear and rather than put $ into refreshing ( they had already been bored 30 over) decided to go with fresh shortblocks. Used a builder in Chicago and was happy with the result. Ported my heads and reworked the carbs and viola, 620 hp. Last yr noticed some cracking on the bottom around the lifting strakes so we cut out the floor and added 2 gussets port and starboard between the engine bulkhead and the helm bulkhead where there was a distance of almost 7' with not transverse support. Beefed up the bottom on the inside with 3-4 layers of 1708 and blueprinted the bottom that had a couple slight bulges. Also took the hook off the bottom in the last foot or so towards the transom. Boat is more responsive to trim now and carries the bow better. Ran the around Manhattan fun run last fall and she ran like a beast. The Midnight is unchanged, still running the 300 pro max's.
