Forgive me if this is stupid question, but what exactly is the difference between a 27 Spitfire and Sport? Was the Sport just a later model of Spitfire? Also, what should I look for if I do find a good one for sale?
Magnum Sports came first built from 1968 to the late 70's, most were small blocks with a lower flat engine hatch. Starfires had a raised rear engine hatch some had Big Blocks & were built from around 1978 to 1982, with two being built in the later 80's.. Magnum also made 27' Sedan cruisers & Maltese magnums. Magnum sports can be had from 15k to 45+k just depends on condition, engines, & what drives they have on them, some may cost even more...

Thats very helpful, thank you. Its my understanding that the starfires are worth quite a bit more. From the factory, what is the most desirable engine/drive combination on the sport and starfires, respectively.

I just depends on what you want out of your Magnum, Two of my Magnums have Volvo drives that's a great dependable drive & with all the Bayliners being scraped out cheap to replace. My Sport has the Volvo drives raised 3" runs 70mph with 355cu small blocks. When you have a Magnum classic you dont need to run on the ragged edge, they look cool just idling around,, If you want more speed a sport with 383cu small Blocks & either Trs or Bravo drives, I feel they have the best balance & speed. The best Magnum Sport race boats were set up this way. .. Any sports out there with Bravo drives most likely has been converted from Volvo or Trs drives..Starfires mostly are big block boats & are good pleasure boats , it's all just your preference.

Its been a while since I was on OSO and in the Magnum section

Congrats on your purchase of High Times. I wondered if she would ever turn up again. Its been a long time.
If she stayed dryish should still be rock-solid.
Back in the day 1986-90 it would cruise at 50 (engines and drives by Andy at Jomar, Hydromotive 4 blade - were they with the boat). The exhaust was custom made by Pete Pavkovich.

Pre-1985 on the Black River it had custom big blocks and Nitrous tanks mounted on front bulkhead near auxillary fuel tank location. Hence the name High Times - nothing faster)

Don't know how much you want return to stockish from the factory look.
If you want the very specific passenger grab bar, let me know - - its still kicking around my garage. It takes up a lot space in the cockpit - - but nothing says period correct as that.

All the best

my dad bought cc rider from blue lagoon we kept it on Lang street in st Clair shores for a few years then sold it to a broker in Florida I’m guessing that was about 77 or 78 as far as I know it’s still in Florida I’d love to find it and buy it back it was p 700
