Did they have "Chris Craft" casted into them?
I'm guessing your eyes aren't good enough to see it.

Sparky at Vicious Marine has a mold to make the hatch. Send him a PM Im sure he can help you.

Thanks Mark,

I spoke to Sparky and hopefully I will be able to give my Mag the original look again.

Now there is only the small issue of closing the hatch once it is back on the hinges...

After I installed performer intakes [taller than stock] on my 454cu engines my Mirage hatch would not close. I didnt want to cut the hatch so I used low profile flame arresters and it worked, and It didnt starve the engines for air.:drink:

I found new Garelick Step Plates on ebay!

Wholesale marine had a couple left. They might have more in stock but you would probably need to call them.

These step plates have the aluminium base and 7 teak strips and are 5" x 12". Garelick discontinued these 2 years ago and I have called many of their reseller trying to find some in stock but no one has had them for a long time but Wholesale-Marine.

I don't have a picture yet as these are now with my brother in Denver but I'll post a picture as soon as I have them.

One Step pad finally arrived to Sweden. The other one is lost in shipping and is not likely to return.

So I have kept searching as the Garelick Step Pad I did recieve looks fantastic.

Last week I found them again, in Japan! This company is reluctant to export but I'm trying to convince them.

I found a set of original step pads (3 weeks ago) for $20 on e-bay cheapboatpartswarehouse they measure 16" X 5 1/2" exactly to the old holes. I can't post pictures!

The early Sports had the 16" pads while the later ones had 12 1/2". Our Sport is a -77 so we are looking for 12 1/2" pads.

old step pads

What would be a good method to bring back the luster to old aluminum - I mean, really make it shine! I just removed the teak inserts to the gunwale step pads and what's left is a very dull oxidized surface. Also, the teak inserts
(although intact) are very dark and dried out.......would sanding a couple of layers off bring it back? .......I really can't afford to lose too many layers since they're pretty worn to begin with.............................................. ..Thanks
