red light = bilge pump is on
Hello Jeppe
Not sure what the red light is for, but the parallel switch is a battery parallel switch , It should connect to a solenoid type(automotive type looking, as in older Fords) switch(Mounted between the batteries) and its used to make a parallel connection of two batteries on the Magnum. The battery parallel switch is a momentary switch and only closes the solenoid when it pushed and held to the left or right. It opens the solenoid when you release the switch and the circuit goes back to a single battery set uo
With parallel batteries, the voltage stays the same but the current increases to help crank over the engines.
Newer rotating type swiches will pretty much do the the same thing but are set by hand , rather having a dash switch make the batteries parrallel
Hope this helps
Thank you
Jim

I have had my Maltese 1974 hull #19 since 1980 and these were the gauges in the boat. I think I have replaced one in 30 years! and knock on wood they are still available. They are old school and I am guessing the original gauges in some models (I think they grabbed whatever was available at the local boatyard back then). Even the description compares them to the old stewart-warner gauges.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Post some pics!

Here is when the old controls are being removed and we are trying out the original Mercontrol.
The steering wheel finally arrived but I need a new set of bolts. The old ones are too long and not stainless The ones that came with the wheel were UNF threaded while the bolts holding the old carbon fiber look wheel were UNC.

There has been some progress on the dash even though I spent most of my time lately on the engines and on renovating the trim and tab pumps.
Here are some pics with the new wheel, the NOS Mercontrol I found on ebay and the repositioned trim/tab buttons. We also fixed all the switches. There is also a pic with the new dash panel replacing the aluminum one. We don't have any new gauges yet I think that has to wait until next year. All we need now is to laser engrave the logo on to the panel.

Looks like you have an original Keller speedo, they were the best back in the early 70's.Just located one for my 29-9 and had it re-built.Should you have put in on the upper dash,or would it get in the way. Bud
