Your motors are probably on 36" centers give or take an inch or so.and you should have two stringers supporting each so it should be fairly easy to design dollies.

by myself.........it is so much better sitting on dolly's than a trailer if you want to move the boat in and out or side to side when doing work on the boat. I'd do the same thing if I were you. You will have 300 bucks in "c" channel if you build those bunks in your sketch. |
these casters are rated for 900 not 5000

I have used these casters from Tractor Supply [TSC] not a bad price [29.99] & good quality & 900 pound capacity. .
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/stor...l?cm_vc=-10005 If you need a Polyurethane Plate Caster these are [39.99] each. If you build a set up like Pete's you will more than enuff capacity. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/stor...l?cm_vc=-10005 |

One of the perks of my job is free or cheap steel pieces. I have 48' of 6" C channel in my shop. I'll cut it up and make stands like those above. |
I think I'm gonna go with these steel wheels from Northern Tool

Check Craigslist and eBay. There is a listing that keeps popping up in VA (not up now) that is selling display cradles for a couple hundred dollars.
This Myco unit is on eBay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MyCo-Medium-...52edc9&vxp=mtr I like the units that Scippy made (a lot), but I would have probably mounted the casters outboard if possible, to lower the CoG and ease access. I wouldn't go with the all steel casters. Those are going to be a bltch to move around when loaded. Years ago, I acquired a really heavy duty oak pallet, and made a cart for a jet-ski for winter storage. That thing would have held my truck. It was oak as I got it from a place that sold pallets of pavers and bricks. |
I've got concrete floors but they are t in the best of shape. I think a steel wheel of 5 or 6" will be ok. I really don't plan on moving it around that much

A steel caster with a rubber jacket would probably be a bit more forgiving to move around. Even the slightest pebble will lock up one of these steel casters. Good luck with your project, and take pictures! |
My floors are at least 8" thick. I bought the house from a Concrete contractor LOL When I installed my 2 post lift I drilled as far as I could with my roto hammer (10") and never broke through Its a 40' x 100' wood barn that I split up into 3 sections, 2 40' x 24' units that I rent out, and keep the 40' x 50' for myself. I may have to kick some body out though, I'm running out of room...
