I had a set on a stock 5.9 magnum short block with a Mopar Magnum R/T cam and a 2BBL single plane M1 intake in my old Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. They are a great head, clean castings, good ports. The flow better than the Mopar Magnum R/T heads, and with a good valve job and 2.02 intakes will out flow the Edelbrock Magnum heads. The heads were the first thing I new I would be using in the boat as I like them so much. I started with them, and built the rest of the plan around them. You cant beat them, especially at 309.00 a piece from AAMidwest. They are actually the official importer of the heads in the US, I picked them up at their shop in Chicago, they are cast in New Zealand IIRC. There is also a shop in Oregon that sells nice Stainless valves for them that are .0100 longer to help installed height for 130.00$ a set as well

Finally got back to some boat projects.
Installed the new fenders on the trailer and made the frames for the extended side steps I am incorporating. http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...pspi7zjvnb.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...psvnzgtcpy.jpg The longer side steps should make it easier to install and remove the cover while its on the trailer. Next step is getting it blasted so I can prime it and continue on with the upgrades, next on the list is centering bunks to replace the keel rollers, a new square sidewinder tongue jack, A storage box to stow the tie down straps, LED lighting, and a new Myco style Bow stop / winch stand setup. For now I'm going to stick with the electric drum brakes, and upgrade to electric over hydraulic discs. Over the winter I did manage to get the hull 90% prepped to re gel the bottom. I also ordered my gelcoat and supplies to shoot the bottom of the hull and the bilge, and a pair of the Prop adapters for the Volvo drives from TMITCHELL this week, so I will be able to keep myself busy for the next couple months |

Te day after my last post I was cutting the angle iron that holds the bunk board off and my grinder kicked back and cut 5 tendons in my wrist, I had surgery and am still in a brace, yesterday was the first time i was able to actually try to move my hand, its gonna be a looong summer... I have good movement in all 4 fingers, the wrist is OK, but my thumb is gonna need some time and therapy, for now my hitchhiking days are over.

Tell me you had the guard on it. I'm a pipefitter and we use them daily. I have lots of respect for cutoff wheels on metabos.
Get well brother. Keep us posted. |
At least 2 more. :lolhit:
