Baja_Bigdog 12-11-2007 10:41 PM

That was an awesome scene in this episode....anyone ever notice how they flipped the image for the return trip with the Tina Turner song....Crocket is on the wrong side of the boat.

VetteLT193 12-12-2007 07:24 AM

It still blows me away Wellcraft screwed up so bad with Scarab. I'd thought they would be around forever.

WMF 12-12-2007 09:16 AM

Glad everyone like what I found on Youtube, I love watching this video in the winter months when I am drinking, its relaxing. Miami Vice is the reason I love Powerboats and have the current business I do.

WMF 12-12-2007 10:57 AM

Yes it is from the first season, it is the Chris Craft Stinger, before they switched to the Wellcraft Scarab.

Yeah if I could get a refund on boating dollars spent over 25 years my wife would have her home on the Intracoastal in S.E. Fla. She could take the water taxi and be happy, but to me the enjoyment of boating is priceless...

Yeah I was really looking forward to the recent Miami Vice movie re-make. Could have used more "go-fast" action. But the original is still the best and Don Johnson proved he could walk the walk in real-life races...

Cash Bar 12-13-2007 10:41 PM

My Dad forced us to go fishing with him, even on some school days and I hated(still do) it.

I told him boats were made to go fast from bar-2-bar. He laughed and said I'd change when I got older. He just shakes his head now and brings that up occasionally. He got on my Cig the first time and asked where the rod-holders were. I told him to get off. :D

GK 12-14-2007 08:38 AM

I was in my twenties when Miami Vice was popular. It stuck with me so much that later in life I purchased a Scarab and a Testarossa. It's been a fun ride ride... land and water. Don was the the coolest of the cool.

Cash Bar, I think fishing is an excused absence from school because your Dad could honestly tell them you were "playing hooky". Ironic part is that Cigarette and others make some pretty fast center consoles for the impatient fishermen...

GK, Glad to see your reality lived up to your fantasy. Scarab burned into my brain too. Whenever I see a classified I have to check it out...

I really fell in love with the go-fasts when I was a kid. We'd vacation in Saugatuck, MI in the summer. Usually in early August there was a run from Saugatuck to Grand Haven. The sight of all that power cruising up and down the river all weekend on their way out to Lake Michigan while the sound from the pipes echoed off the sand dunes is still clear in my head 25 years later.

No doubt about it though...that scene is probably one of the best that Michael Mann ever created! Before the days of mp3 and music downloads, I actually spent a half day in a real live record store (no one under 25 probably knows what that is  ) tracking down a copy of that tune on....are you ready for this....a 45 single. :drink:

that makes sense, it was too small to be an Aranow, and i watched to see if it was season one, but not, from the scarab, so excalibur makes sense.

WMF 12-15-2007 07:15 AM

I never knew Wellcraft made a Cat, guess you learn something new everyday, thanks

Hey Ryan, Know what you mean. Miami Vice's Friday night time slot meant I would miss some episodes. 1980's Cleveland Flats meant cruising the Cuyahoga River docking at D'Poos, ***ans and Shooters. Being single at the time I had to have my priorities straight...

Thanks for the reply. Did a search not to many pictures on them.

FYI...was being productive today, it appears NBC has pulled all Miami Vice clips on YOUTUBE due to copyright infringement.:hitfan:

What's the world coming to.:angry-smiley-055:

Hey Smokin,

Wish I would've been just a bit older back then ( I was in my teens through the 80's). Had to be really cool. I just bought this boat and I'm counting every long a** day until spring! Will likely be making it down your way this summer (Cedar Pointe, Put in, Kelly's). Any other good spots on western Lake Erie?

BTW- if you ever get bored some night, get the M/V Season One set and pop in the episode "The Great McCarthy"....some great race scenes in it.

Thanks Ryan, I'll look for that episode. You already know the best hot spots in the Lake Erie Islands. Weekend dockage is tough without reservations but Middle Bass ( just north of Put in Bay ) generally has docks available at State Park with ferry service to the Bay. Besides Cedar Point, Sandusky Bay has dining dockage at Friday's and Lyman Harbor. Enjoy the ride over...

I heard the middle bass marina will be closed all this summer. Dont forget to hit the Casino at Kelly's.

Thanks for offering. At summer '08 fuel prices that would make it about a $400 beer. If you make it to Cedar Point Marina we are there weekends across from Famous Dave's. Good Barbeque and bar...

My father fished me out when I was young also.
The only good thing about those days on his boat was all the good food & donuts. We lived in Jersey and hit the Acid waters weekly during our summers in Belmar.
I'd rather go to the dentist than go fishing !

I saw this very cat for sale in 03 at national liquidators. It had bright pink "HOT" graphics on the top and sides. Wonder where it went.
