Just got a GoPro HD and was watching tutorials. With you guys using them on boats I have 2 questions.
1. What size SD card is best?
2. Wht is the best setting for recording the action while running?

I set ours to video R4 (which is 960P). It seems to have more of a fish eye image.
The card that we use is the Lexar Platinum II 8GB SDHC. Check with who you buy it from, make sure it is a card that can store HD images. The 8GB holds enough video video for how we use the camera.
Here is a video I put together of the different video settings in the same conditions...

Hope this helps and have fun!

Get the biggest SD card you can. You can get 32gb now and they aren't priced too bad. I use r3 like Deemo said above, 720/60fps. 1080 is cool but can be a bear to work with unless you have a bad ass computer. 720 works great for YouTube and viewing on your PC. If you were going to watch on your hd tv you may want to give 1080 a try but they use a lot of space on your card. I am not a fan of the 960p setting because it is not widescreen. You can edit it down to widescreen but that can be a pain. Get a decent editing program too. Nobody wants to see your face at the start and end of every video lol. I use Vegas movie studio. It's pretty nice and only $100.

I film in R3 also but I am having the hardest time editing my videos as they are seriouly choppy, the picture freezes a lot but the sound is continous. Is it my computer? It's not the latest greatest, actualy its about 6 yrs old. I was thinking of getting a MAC. I did by the Vega program to edit but doesn't help with the freezing issue. What's the min requirements for a PC to run the 720/60fps or is there a setting on the gopro that I can actual edit on my PC.

I just purchased from Best Buy a 2.8Ghz processor laptop by acer and after researching I found all the internal parts are the same just the name on the laptop is different and I record in 1080 wide screen with no stopping during playback whatsoever. The best part is $419 for the laptop.
