Whos, we? Is the rest of St. Maries group coming with you. Maybe we could meet and run down together.

Mark,

Can you be more specific on where this is? I know the bend, only been by it once in my little jet boat. There is a channel marker in the corner protected by large rocks. Are there some submerged rocks also there?
Thanks

Click below, look at the red "8", then zoom out to see where it is on the map. You must stay on the correct side of that marker and give it plenty of room. I too have seen the rocks at low tide.
The bend you are talking about is the next green down river "5" That's the tower that is surrounded by rocks that are visible at all times....

Red day marker # 8. It is on the Md side of the river between Port Tobacco creek and Nanjemoy creek on the Potomac. As Shah Mat says run on the correct side of the marker, and dont get within 100 yards of it. Rocks are submerged, and not visible unless its a very low tide.

Got it, I appreciate the help. I would have not guessed that. Any other dangers up that way? I guess I just keep in the center of the channel up that way. Don't need to do it going down river. Hope to see you next weekend.

Everything else ok if you stay in the channel. Potomac can be tricky, not alot of water in some places outside of the channel. Why the Coast Guard wont do something about #8 is beyond my reasoning. Even a danger sign as with other potential problems would help. Like everything else, it probably will take someone getting seriously injured or worse to get it fixed.
