aquapalooza 2010
i have heard rumors that there will not be a aquapalooza this year because of the troubles and damages in years past anyone have info on this?
|
I havent heard anything official yet. But i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt have it or if they tightened up with more of a police presence
|
weather has been the problem, it just makes a guy look bad after he has had 24 beers
|
It's not police pressence they need it's organization. People just raft up where ever they feel, with no reguard for any type of traffic flow. There have been bad storms every year Ive gone. I have not had any damage, this year I will be as far away as possible.
|
We thought about trailing up and dropping in the potomac for this last year then read about all the stories of idiots not knowing what to do, damaged boats, etc from the previous year storm so we passed.
Looks like we made the right choice since last year's had the same senario, again due to weather. I don't think I wanna put our boat into that zoo, though we might think about taking a rental with the FULL INSURANCE option:drink: or we might try and offer our services as experienced deckhands and drinking partners :) |
Pretty sure its going to happen at National Harbor this year.Due to the fact Prince William host this event to sell boats and they dont sell many when the have the event at Fairview.I could be wrong but I heard this from an employee so I tend to believe it.

I have always been up in the mix, and had no trouble getting out once I realized a storm was coming. |
I work at a waste water treatment plant Blue Plains actually spits out some of the cleanest water around. Blue Plains is 50 miles by water north. You have three more treatment plants between there and Blue Plains (Arlington Alexandria and one of Fairfax's) to worry about and the real problem that is arrising is the bad septic systems in the local Stafford area.

you guys are making my nipples hard
I know a couple of the big boat owners that boats ended up on the beach the past 2 years. However it was as a result of smaller boats having insufficient anchors, poor storm plan and not being able to hold position, then decided to motor out, thus cutting anchor lines on the way. I will make the suggestion to Guy & Tim that only topless, republican woman be allowed within a 100 yard radius of crab shack, that should fix this mess |
Why not have it at Tims 1?, they have more dock space, it's not as bad there in storms the way it's tucked back in there and the water is not as deep, its closer to PWM. Or do they need to have a country music concert near a trailer park ? It would suck big time if they had it at the Harbor, way to many cops to have any fun, the water is to deep to swim so drunks would be drowning plus I am sure they would find some way to charge to ancor or raft up. So close to D.C. they would be boarding and searching boats with their combat boots on and scatching paint when they try to tie up.
Speaking of PWM did you guys hear what Carlton the owner did. In that big snow he thought it would be a good idea to plow it off the docks with a Bobcat, well the dock broke and the Bobcat fell into the water, 10 feet of water, he got out of the cab while it was going in and did get to messed up but I hear he will need surgery to fix his shoulder. Only one boat got messed up I hear but somebody needs to get him a snow thrower. |

Their was a thread a while ago, that the trailer park was sold to build condos at Fairview Beach. Not sure if that deal was ever finished. Cant see them having it a National Harbor, to many boats not enough space. Water is only deep in the dregded channel. If you got out of your boat up their to walk around, you would sink in 4 feet of nasty black mud.
|
I don't think that is mud
|
why you have to poke fun at us country music listners huh:angry-smiley-038:

Forrest you listen to the works right?

its silt, corp of engineers hasn't dredged many places on the potomac. Neale sound at Cobb island is horrible.
As far as Aquapalozza, won't be planning to attend this event. Would rather do something different. Just a plain piss poor managed event that has caused all kinds of catastrophes. |

They Announced aquapalooza will be at Lake Travis - Austin, Texas this year. I've never been but, they're making a big deal about it. From what ya'll are saying about it, I may just leave the big boat at home and take the jet skis. Any suggestions for a first time Aquaplooza-er?
|
Aquapalooza events are held all over the country, with one main or signature event, wich is supposed to have big stars performing. Last years with Allen Jackson was on CMT. It looked like the boats were purposely tied up in rows with plenty of spacing, "organized". Our Aquapalooza is drop anchor and tie up were ever you want, "un-organized".
Check with the Lake Travis area Sea Ray dealer to see if they have a plan for rafting up. |

Local Sea Ray dealer held an Aquapolooza here in the Richmond, Va area, two years ago. It was very organized and planned out. We heard nothing but good comments all day.

the main event will be on Lake Travis this year.

I'm done with Aquapalooza. The first year was fun, now it's uncontrolled drunk fest.
I got some of the damage last year. Our 3 boat raft up was going fine, had a good stom plan in effect until........ The other 500 boats started dragging anchor. If they do it this year we should pick a spot somewhere else on the river and make our own party. |
Seltzer is going to have a cookout, naked women, free booze and party at his place instead...
|
Aquapalooza 2010 is going to be in Austin Tx on Lake Travis July 31st.
|
Aquapalooza is a Sea Ray sponsored event to say thank you to Sea Ray customers and maybe to get someone to buy a new or used Sea Ray boat, Sea Ray does not make a dime when guys fist fight on the dock, arrive in a conoe, nor does Tim make a penny when 1,000 boats arrive with a 24 pack's of beer only to use his bathroom. The idea to have this event at National Harbor is more about selling boats and thanking the guys with the 42'+ Sea Ray's, than making an opportunity for another redneck like myself to get drunk and suggest chicks show there tiiiiits. Organization cost money and the money is not availible if no one buys Sea Ray boats........
|
So is it going to be at National Harbor this year?
|
As of a week ago there was no firm plan for National Harbor or anywhere, the money is tight and this is NOT a money making event, that is not enough money to offset the cost of the bands, set up, fire works etc...
Might I suggest we have a "mini" aquapaluza on the back of your boat ? |
I'd offer to have a mini palooza at Cobb Isl if anyone's interested.

Nah, probably the same weekend that the Aquapalooza of past has been. The area south of my house (bottom side of Cobb Island) is a good sandy bottom and shallow enough to anchor and wade ashore. Marinas, restaurants and bars are close by land and sea. Let me know if anyone is interested
