Default Questions about C&D and chesapeake bay boating

Hey Guys,

Been a long time lurker and occasionally poster/commenter. Finally got my boat squared away and dependable again and have been venturing out. I launch out of South Jersey and have traveled down the C&D to the Chesapeake Inn area. I've searched through the posts and have seen a lot of places as I get down into the bay area, Joel's seems pretty popular at the north end of the area. I'm planning to go out Friday day and possibly Saturday day to do some more exploring.

Friday is likely to be my dad and I, possible a brother too. Just looking to explorer and see how the trip is and what the water is generally like. Are there things in the water we should watch out for between Chesapeake Inn and the bay area? It seems consistent that their isn't a problem for us running thru hull exhaust, and have seen several note the trip as a good ride. Hoping to experience it and would love, if by chance someone else will be out that day that we could meet up with top show us some pointers on the trip.

Saturday will likely be more of the family and depending on timing and weather would be looking to make the trip down again and do some more exploring.

Any inputs or additional advice would be great, and if by chance anyone else will be out and would be interested in meeting up feel free to reach out.

Thanks,
Josh

Josh:

No water issues...

Up North some of spots are the Nauti Goose in the North East. Jelly Fish Joels on Fairlee creek is always a blast. Normally a good mix of GF boats and plenty of eye candy... Crazy Tuna on Middle river is cool spot.

Going somewhere friday for dinner just not sure where yet. Maybe Chesapeake Inn. Saturday may start at the sand islands just south of HDG. Than down to Middle R. for lunch. You are welcome to run down that way with us if you want. Don't cut the corner from Elk river to N.E. river. Stay off the flats because you will get stuck. Be real careful around Pooles island there are alot of shallow areas. The Bay will get rough when the winds get up. Normally around 2. So plan before you go. The crab pots are starting to show up too.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. While out tomorrow we will explore that end of the Elk river and see what we can find. As for Saturday, I'd be up for running with you, will look for sand island area tomorrow while we are out and post up tomorrow for sure once I know we are going out Saturday and timing. About how long is the run from HDG to Chesapeake Inn? Really looking forward to meeting up with some guys and learning that area as well as meeting some other people with boats!

Thanks,
Josh
