Table Rock Lake Thread.....

How the hell does that work? Why does the corps keep telling me that I cannot add on to my dock so I can fit something in it over 30 feet long?

Sh*t, every time I call table rock boat dock works they tell me to call the corps....I know what the corps will tell me. I cannot have a boat dock with slips bigger than 30 foot long. Is this a new regulation? Our dock is about 9 yrs old....WTF is going on here and why cant I build a 38' deep stall if your buddy just had his put in?

I think that the 12x 30 rule is something new in the last few months. The couple who owned the blue thunder just put a 12 slip dock in around the corner from combs ferry, 12x30 was as big as they could go. Just about every boat they plan to put in it will be over 30 foot. But I have heard that with the Corps it's all about who ya know......

So our developer was just a dumb sh*t, and decided 8 or 9 yrs ago, that residents wouldnt buy a boat bigger than 30 foot...28 foot in my case. Man, we need to amend this policy. Only 11% of the shore is zoned for docks, and that wont change. I see why the corps is doing this and it isnt right.

I wish the rules were a little less stringtent. The Corps told Charles that he couldn't have furinture, a diving board, a swing, ect, ect, ect on the dock, because "Docks are for parking & storing boats, not recreating or congregating"
Morons.

I agree! But at the same time I don't want it to happen because it will bring more big boats there & where does it stop? LOTO is a disaster with docks, but it is not comparable because it is not a Corps lake.

Well, it will never be like LOTO b/c only 11% of the shore is zoned for docks.....by design. The corps gets to charge rental fees for large slips via the marinas like state park and kimberling city that rent out monster slips to cruisers and house boats. It is a major source of income for the COE, and the very reason they now require private dock/slip owners to register boats stored within...so the large % of boat slip owners that dont keep boats in them wont sublease out to others. But that begs the question: why not allow private dock owners to build slip sizes as they please and adjust private dock permit fees as such? If the COE will rent out major slips to huge boats they need to allow those of us that pay permit fees on out private docks to keep up....the alternative is to drive us off the water b/c of big boats vs. little boats. It is a win win for COE either way they screw us. Call the corps of engineers, table rock lake @ 417-334-4101 and ask for Becky...the ranger in charge. Complain to her how their "fix" for lake traffic screws the private owners that pay also.
