They are safe from that.
They built a small water tower last fall. Not sure what the deal was with that, maybe something to do with lack of fire dept protection.
Makes me wonder what the insurance companies are doing with that liability.

I have the unfortunate advantage of living right behind the island. Used to be a pretty good view, now I look at cheap looking condo's and the new phalic symbol that must be the water tower.
They've finished about 2 or maybe 3 more units since thanksgiving, and stuck 3 new docks right out in the main channel. I can't imagine who would want there boat there, especially with no wave break. I'm quite a ways behind the island and still get the crap beat out of my dock from main channel slop.
Best I can tell, there are about 3 or 4 people that have bought there, as there are only a couple boats in the slips and a couple lights on in the condos at night.
I too wish they would have left it alone, it used to be a nice view.

Remained pretty dead there when I was there last weekend. I live right across the main channel from them, down in Witches Cove at the 4MM, so I see them every time I leave or return. Although they do not impact my view, since I am way deep in that cove, they are an eye sore compared to the island when it was undeveloped.
My guess is the developer will have a real uphill climb to come out of this project on the positive side.

Rumor has it the project is bankrupt. I live about 200 yards behind the island, and there has been no construction, or construction crews on the island for several months. Rumor also has it that the development companies other projects at the lake are all on hold at the moment. From what I can guess, judging by the lights on at night and the boats in the slips, maybe 10-15 units are occupied.

I think its pretty shameful that a developer would go after that.....out of there realm? No way. But in very bad taste the way its done. They should have tried to incorperate a little more nature in the plan. Maybe one highrise or something like that with green all around, and no cars or parking lots
