How does White Lightning do it?

I have had a couple of warnings for sound despite running mufflers. I have 540 blower motors that are borderline even when muffled. I love the way White Lightning sounds but I bet it's above the limit. What's his secret to not getting busted?

Keytime 07-15-2009 09:22 PM

Not sure, but I think he's definitely quieter this year than last year.

tblrklakemo 07-15-2009 10:40 PM

Time and place?

stillboatin 08-02-2009 09:30 PM

just saw this thread, but it prob. the fact that he only goes out at certain times and picks and chooses when he runs the boat. So when people are b^tch^n because he doesnt run the boat its because he cant without WP bein all over his tail

lotojim 08-03-2009 10:02 AM

He is out all the time around WP. When going through no wake zone he turns off one motor. It must help a litttle. Hell he has been running without hatches too.

I dont think bribery has anything to do with it. I know for a fact that he has had his fair share of db tickets!!! So the only money changing hands is his to the city of osage beach. But like I said, I bet you dont see him out before noon and before the other big boys get on the water. There is nothing else for them to do at 9 or 10 oclock on a sat, or sunday morning.....

Tbonepmp 08-10-2009 09:11 PM

My father had a 47' Apache with (3) 598ci 1100's at LOTO and we never received one DB ticket. The neighbors would complain at times and call the WP and they would come by to let us know, but he never received a ticket for loud noise... It has to do with luck and how you operate your boat...

You're done with me...??? Go play... :Whatever:

MercDoc 08-26-2009 09:52 AM

travis is very quiet now. Seems those 10/[email protected] compression monsters he talks about are sick again. How he has that with 30 overdriven pulleys is beyond my mechanical knowledge.

JUSTGOLF 08-26-2009 05:47 PM

so will we see it run at the shootout?

You might see it run to the shootout... that's probably about it.

I still don't see an answer to the original question. We were in Building 5 at Lands End during Aquapalooza weekend. I was putting stuff away in the kitchen Friday afternoon when we heard a loud roar go by. My wife said, "What was that?" "White Lightning", I replied, without even going to the balcony to take a look.

He made three passes by Dog Days within 5 minutes. The third time by I went to the balcony to see Water Patrol sitting near him. WP did not pull up along side. Apparently words were exchanged but no citations issued.

I hear stories of other people getting warnings, tickets, and being told to trailer their boat until the noise level is reduced. So, how does he get away with it?

CMI headers and tails. Wet exhaust, no mufflers.

redbud35 08-31-2009 08:07 PM

Omerta,
Do you have the 700 Cig? I've seen it at Dog Days in the past.
Awesome boat!

Nope, just a SW Illinois boy. Grew up near Collinsville. Most of my extended family lives in the Belleville area. My grandpa on my dad's side is from down near Modoc. So, we've been down that way a number of times and have hit Smithton for the fish fry. Good stuff. :drink:

redbud35 09-03-2009 09:12 PM

Modoc, never heard of it. Just kidding I deer hunt on the hill above Modoc.

Small world. When I lived back home, I'd hit the annual picnic down there. Been a while, though. Need to go again.

Wild 09-04-2009 08:03 PM
