Another alternative is go to the Fish, Larry's on the Lake or Bulldogs, they're all really really close and shouldn't be a problem to get to any of them to sit it out a while.
All of them should have parking, Bulldogs is in a "no wake" cove.

Go to vrbo.com. There are hundreds of houses on there to rent with docks, in every price range. We have two groups comming up from tx for the shootout and they both got houses in our cove.

When looking for a place where should we be looking? MM 25? We have a 25' Donzi so don't mind being a ways from the action but don't want to be too far.

There is stuff going on all over the lake during the Shootout weekend. It really depends on what you want to be closest to.
The actual Shootout and Capt Ron's is at the 34mm.
Lots of stuff going on at Dog Days at the 19mm. Skaterfest is at Camden on the Lake/Horny Toad at the 7mm.
Personally, I like to stay close to the 20mm. Closer to more night life and a shorter ride home in the dark. Its more fun to boat longer distances during the day.

I'll throw this one out there...

Peaceful Valley Resort. It's pretty close to the action. If your running 50mph, it takes just a couple minutes to get to the no wake zone at the shootout. Very nice cabins with two bedrooms and a loft. $120/nite if I remember right. They also have a decent ramp. Also lots of really nice slips. Great owners too.

The bad part is that the road to get there is rock along with all the roads around the resort. You have to use a full cover if you want to keep tons of dust off your boat.

There are a couple of small resorts on the Niangua which are quiet waters which run into the Main Channel at the 31 MM one is the Flame and the other is Point view the Flame is about 3.5 miles from the 31 MM where the no wake zone starts.
